Had a bad morning in Coffs Harbor, combined effort from both me and Siov, we locked the keys in the car. Luckily it was a sunny morning, but had to call the NRMA (RAC equivalent) out.

Drove to Bellina via a few little villages (again nothing worth jumping about for) and camped in Bellina. Was a very small little coastal village with not much going on. Me and Siov were the youngest people in the caravan park by about 30 years so went to where the cool kids hangout (and there weren't many cool kids in Bellina) but had a nice evening - we'll nicer than sitting in the van! Bellina itself was pretty and small and seasidy but then so are most towns on the East coast!

Made it to Byron bay, as my guide book says - 'congratulations, you've made it to the promise land!'. It's an overcast day but the place has a buzz to it and (for the first time on our trip) lots of backpackers, so we're feeling more at home! Went out here last night and we have definately hit backpacker central of the entire universe. Loads of people, majority Europeans, seem to be here and meeting and Australian is a rare event. Don't envy the people doing any of the tours here, great way to meet people but it must be like being back on a school trip, just you're allowed to drink in the evenings and don't have to hide it from the teachers! Having said that Byron is really good and the beach is great (although I imagine even better in the height of summer with slightly warmer weather, it's pretty good at the moment though) and the town is surfery and laid back.

Getting into the swing of camping, producing some pretty varied meals, will soon be the envy of the campsites I imagine. Slowly learning the campsite etiquette, don't walk on other people's pitches, don't oversleep... soon we'll be pro. However I have decided that in the future I will avoid camping like the plague, I'm ok with it now but found some of the hideously disgusting hostels in Africa and Asia easier to deal with.
