Edit Blog Post

I found a new favourite activity; beach hopping via ATV's. I absolutely love Greece. Like, everyone should spend two weeks here. THe people are friendly, the crowd is young, and camping hostels are SO MUCH FUNNN!!!

So, this is going to be a condensed blog of my days, since I have to play catch-up. I'm in London now, and internet is much more affordable..

I think I left the story at flying to Santorini. It was a 20 min plane ride, we bought our tiockets at the airport and we made up over 50% of the passengers! The airports in greece bus you to the plane on the tarmack.. a bit of a different experience.

May 7, 2009 Santorini!!!

Today we dook a day tour around the Santorini islands. Karen was feeling ill, so she stayed back, (and got better!) but the rest of us went for a day adventure! We bought into a ferry tour that takes you to different hot spots. We started with a 2hr ish hike up an active volcano which was still giving off sulphur gas. Annie almost fell into the crater-jiust joking :P.. that was fun, and tiring.. then we went to the hot springs where you have to swim over 150m in the FREEZING cold water to get to the (what I'm told is) luke-warm spring. Long story short, ANnie and Leslie braved it, Annie had to be rescued.. Ruby and I sent the mand with the tub boat to rescue ANnie.. regardless, ANnie and Les made it to the hot springs, and tug boat helped them back onto the boat. Yea, kudos to the girls for braving that! I'm not that good of a swimmer, so I opted out, but part of me wishes I tried.. but I made up for it by beach hopping 😉

We also went to Thirissa island, which has a zig-zag pathway up its very steep face. As soon as we heard that DONKEYS could be ridden up the path, we were sold. For 5 Euros, it was SO worth it and now I have a beach towel has Greek houses and a large donkey as a souvenir! (also for practical uses :P) Not to mention to two large bruses on my thighs from the donkey saddle! The ride was.. shaky at BEST, at an unpredicatable, inconsistent pace.. but most importantly thrlling! Our apprehansive faces and stiff grips turned jovial and encouraging about 1/3 up the path. I could hear Anns Les and Rubes 'encouraging' their donkeys half-way up, telling them to go faster, or not stop to chew on grass. I took 4-5 videos.. will post one later (it took that many tries to get one where I didn't lost control!)

The day tour ended in Ioa, a beautiful city with more white houses along the mountainside. We watched the sun set there.. and while waiting on the stone wall for it to set, I perched myself on a nearby wall to the girls and drew the hillside in my notebook. A french tour guide was taking pics with his SLR and asked if he could take one of me drawing! So I said sure,... he was taking pics for his brochures. I thought that was uber cool, and asked him to send me the pic!

Then we ended the night back home, and Karen was feeeling better!! Yay! Karebare joined us the next day

Today was one of my most funnest vacation days .. ever. We went ATV'ing around the city! TO BEACHES. I got to swim in the different beaches, with a quick dip in each. The ATV'ing was bad-ass... I think Ruby described it best, as we looked ahead to Leslie, leading the pack, and us folloing her on our train of ATV's. Ruby said that Les looked like a Mario Kart figure, which is preceisely the picture. Imagine small girls with BIG round helmets on bright yellow and blue ATVs with big tires..vthat was us.

We ended the night in Ioa again, since it was so pretty the first time. We ATV'd back to go OUT!

hahaha.. we went to highlander bar and had a GOOD time! Didn't know the girls could dance that much.. or on such unsteady ground.. leave it at that 😉 There are picturessss to come!

Mykonos!! Party city!

Quote of the day was by Leslie. Annie lost her camera 😞.. and we discovered that on the boat ride to Mykonos from Santorini. We checked every where. Then Les had a brilliant thought.. she turns to ANnie and says, "maybe you lost it between your cleavage" bwahahahah.. leslie may hate me.

At mykonos, we were tired from last night, so we cooled off that night with a stoll along little Venice, took pics, and ate some nice hand-made ice cream...

Bye bye Cookie Burners 😞
We had a farewell breakfast just outside our mykonos hostel, which is at the city centre. THe most expensive hostel yet, since mykonos is the most expensive island. After saying bye to the girls.. leslie and I trecked onto Paradise Beach! We hadn't booked our hostel, we was just gunna wing it.. and it turned out find. Met an English guy, Aiden who taught us a bit about the transit system and gave us the inside scoop on mykonos ( I think hes gay).. so yea, went to Paradise Beach, camping! only 11 euros a night! THis was the best hostel yet.. I'm getting kicked off internet soon, since this joint is closing, but we went out a couple times in mykonos and met so many itneresitng people..

cookie burners: tattooe'd aussie was our friend for a night!!! Les talked to him and we started a bit of a pub crawl... there are pics..

I'll finish this up next entry. But so far, I know I love beaches and swimming int he beach water! And camping hostelling is definitely the way to go in the hot countries! We met so many cool poeple!
