This is in the lobby of the big hotel here. The owner seems to hold a lot over her "subjects" here. Not sure why....
Saludos! The winds are finally dying down here so the gringos are getting happier and the kiters are putting their equipment away for the year. The new Pemex station has opened and is having a big grand opening this weekend. Already folks are complaining that they are watering down the gas so as to make a bigger profit. There is another Pemex in town too and one of the locals who owns the big hotel here also owns the other older Pemex station and threatens her employees that if they use the new Pemex, they will be fired. Word is that she is losing control of the locals here in los Barriles.

It appears that my gates should be UP and done today!!! The painting has begun as well and should be done today as well!!! But I won't keep my fingers crossed.

My Spanish class continues to be a LOT of fun for me. Everyone seems to like it too.

Today I saw a whale blow and at the same time about 100 dolphins swimming out in front here! I have never seen so many dolphins at one time. It was quite a site for me!

Gabriel got cut off here but.......His family is very nice and we really enjoyed the evening!

It is still pretty quiet around here in town and we are not complaining at all about it. The economy is bad here as well and a lot of folks are looking for "rich" gringos to help them out.

Sunday evening we had Gabriel's family in for dinner. What nice people. His daughter, Gabriela, cleans the bathrooms in the park and residents hire her to clean their places before and after their stay here. Gabriela's husband, Arturo, is doing our gate work. We had kind of offered him the painting job, but that would have taken way too long as the gate job is dragging on too long for us. The guys doing the painting should be done today IF the sprayer does not break down or the wind picks up too much!

So that is about it from here. Bob in Joyce will be here on Thursday!!! We are really looking forward to that and will report their impressions later!!! Hope all are well.

BTW, we are in NO danger here (as per the news reports). Most of the problems seem to be on the mainland but again, it is a question of being in the

wrong place at the wrong time, drinking and partying and shooting off one's mouth etc, etc. The Mexican government seems to be influenced by the drug cartel--aka corruption, but nothing new there! That is what all the "warnings" seem to be about.

Send news........Hope the weather in Michigan is getting better. If not, consider coming down to our little paradise!

We found a painter through our old contractor, Isidro, so they came on Monday to clean and sand and today, 3-2, they began to (SLOWLY) tape and will prime and possibly paint later. Key is the wind.....
