Lima
Lima rocks ... a tough place to be. No, we didn't climb that mountain, we might be crazy but we're not completely insane. Dames y Caballeros !
Que estan haciendo ? Aren't you people bored yet by our ""funny"" reports and pictures ? Of course not, you wouldn't have tuned in if you were, de acuerdo ? How is home/work/family life doing, no struggle or strife at the frontline ? Good to know ... as you know we're always concerned about you. Ok, let's get ready for a new episode of the trip around the small small world. El Señor de Sipán ... who is this, any ideas ? Let's start with the country as such .. Peru, we dived into and thru this enchanting marvellous piece of earth ... and have to disappoint you heavily. We successfully skipped and cancelled the world-famous sites like the legendary lost city of Machu Picchu, the Inca capital Cusco, El Valle Sagrado de los Incas, the world unique Valle (Canyons) del Colca near Arequipa ... demasiado gringitos, and choosed the poor-travelled path which led us to the Richest Tomb in the New World, without a doubt, the most important archaeological finding of recent times in Lambayeque Valley, situated in Northern Peru, exposing the breathtaking and rich culture of the Moche culture that ruled the northern coast of
Feeling hungry ?
If not, lingering through the mercado central of Arequipa will definitely bring you in a decent eating/drinking mood Peru from the time of Christ to 700 AD, centuries prior to the Incas ... any preguntas (questions) ?
Ok, during that pilgrimage in search of great moral significance, we stumbled across another high culture in the Huaraz region, one of the best places in South America to enjoy superb mountain scenery ... the Pisco Sour culture. Thanks to adorable and charming Maria we quickly touched base with some important local costumbres like drinking huge amounts Pisco Sour and dancing the night away with hot spicy Cumbia rhythms. Well ... you don't want to know how we (especially Tony) felt the morning after.
Arequipa shoudn't be missed once you visit the country, this terrific city in southern Peru won't need ages to capture all your senses with its awesome colonial buildings, its mixed Spanish, indigenous and mestizo population and its overwhelming charme and sometimes warm climate (we are travelling during the heavy rain-season).
What else ... yes Lima, the capital, huge, peligroso, poor and rich (abundant in culture, historic buildings and folks = limenos living under harsh conditions in the old-town and plentiful in terms of wealthy embassy relatives and capuccino sipping/facebook googling backpackers in the chic area of Miraflores)...
Santa Maria
Gracias a Maria, we got introduced to a very important custom in the central Andes. What more do I need to say ? Muchissima Gracias. maybe had seen better times since the conquistadors showed up quite a while ago. Enough boring text and sticky lyrics for now, check out the pics of the day 😊
Que la pasen bien as one uses to say in America del Sur ... have a good time girls and boys.
Saludos, Irina and Tony.
