Day after Valentine’s Day, we’ve just begun our third week in Mexico. We are now at our first planned destination - the beautiful white sand beaches of Isla Aguada. Surely this is heaven on earth. We have a beachfront site about thirty feet from the water. The water has a light blue green color probably due to the white sands beneath and the shallowness of its depth. Dolphins are jumping and playing further out. Water temp is reported to be about 80 degrees. When we arrived on Friday the beach was deserted. Today, many local families are enjoying playing at the beach. The air temperature is probably in the upper 80’s as we get pretty warm walking along the beach and malecon. Nighttime breezes keep us plenty cool with just a fan. Walking barefoot on the beach is not too pleasant as the sand is littered with tiny shells and shell fragments. There are few collectible shells here.

The campground is part of the Freedom Shores Hotel and RV Resort on the outskirts of the fishing village of Isla Aguada. Numerous trees provide shade. In fact, Ray was nearly beamed by a falling coconut. Our hosts are William (Bill) and Thelma Bussear. Here is a link to their web site: http://www.isla-aguada.com/ Bill has been a quadriplegic since surviving a diving accident while serving with the marines in Hawaii in 1961. Bill and Thelma’s dream was to create a fully handicap accessible hotel and RV resort. While Freedom Shores is by no means limited to disabled guests, there are a number of wheel chair bound guests and their families now staying in the hotel. Many of the RV spaces are fully paved in order to be handicap accessible as well. The campground offers clean hot showers and free WiFi. There is a very nice bar and restaurant on site. Hotel guests may opt for all inclusive packages. Ray and I enjoyed a delicious Valentines Day shrimp dinner in the restaurant last night and shrimp cocktails for lunch today. It is a real treat for us to be able to go out to dinner. Traveling as we do in a truck camper, we do not have a tow vehicle so unless there are nearby restaurants, we have to do our own cooking. As this is perpetual summer, we make a lot of tostadas and salads. We have become pretty good at shopping

The bridge in the background is two or three miles long. It replaced a ferry and now connects this area to the Ciudad del (city of) Carmen.

Freedom Shores
Thank you for your kind words. Freedom Shores is RV accessible and is an aweome place to spend time. Tho my husband and I are fully ambulatory we loved the place for it's welcoming ambiance, quaint nearby village, seafood, and most of all the lovely beach on front of the campground.
