Last night dinner in Kolanta
....Red snapper....and a lovely curry dish! We have left Kolanta! Unfortunately. We have spent almost a week here and are very sad to go as it has been spectacular. Our resort gave us a ride to the Ferrie Docks at the end of the island. Our driver who also owned our resort by the sounds of it was very informative. We mentioned to him that we had not seen any Police. He says that you only see them at the beginning of the month and the end of the month when they are around to collect money...He mentioned that they look after their own policing when needed. We arrived at the pier and had about 1/2 hour to kill before our boat. Alicia and Stacey said that they had enjoyed Railay so that is our next stop.
After approx 1hr. 45 minutes our boat arrives in Railay. One problem Railay has no Dock... Out come the longtails and we are unloaded into them and shuttled to the beach where we wade into shore. Railay is known for it's rock climbing and apparently climbers come from all over to scale it's large cliffs. The beach where we landed was beautifull with the cliffs right up against it.
Thai Gas Station
...just need a bit for our motor bike! There however was one thing there that we weren't accustomed to..............PEOPLE. After a week in near seclusion we had become very spoiled. Oh well let's find a Hotel and get settled in. We finally found one that was on the East side of the island that didn't look too bad. We paid 1200 bot ( $50) which was the most we had spent for a hotel since arriving..oh well it had hot water..hahha.We notice the Hotel had a pool so Kelley decided to go for a swim. She shared the pool with a bunch of leaves, two babies without diapers and 3 scuba divers in training...oh my. Needless to say she didn't stay in long. After getting settled it was off to walk the beach and have some dinner. Found a good restaurant with very fresh fish and ....WINE. Of all the things over here Wine is the hardest and the most expensive item to find. We arrived back at our room and made a quick decision.. Let's get out of Dodge. But where do we go? We considered returning to Kolanta as we knew what would be waiting for us there but we thought we should be a little
more adventuresome than that. We opened our reliable book on Thailand and looked at a map. We discovered an island called Koh Yao Noi that we had never heard of and had never been mentioned by anyone. It is located over near Phuket. We stopped at a travel agent to see if there was a boat to it and he advised us that there is one speed boat that goes there at 10:00 am daily. Done.
The next morning we are up and at it looking forward to Koh Yao Noi. The boat ride is about 1 hour to the island. We arrive at the dock not sure where we should go from there as there are very few resorts listed for this island. We jump into the back of a truck with two other couples and our packs and off we go. The first couple get off at a resort where they are going to learn kick boxing....we stay on the truck. The next couple get off at a resort that looks kind of fancy. We ask them how much per night and they say 12,000 bhat...we stay on the truck. Finally our driver stops at this little resort
Signs
These are everywhere pointing to safe routes just in case...like our run away lanes....good to know they are there and hope never to use them! on the east coast that looks like it would suit us just fine ..................and boy does it ever. Of the three favorite resorts we have stayed at the best ones have been family owned and operated , this being no exception.
Koh Yao Noi has become our newest most favorite place in Thailand. It is a predominantly Muslim island and is kept very clean. We noticed the difference right away. The people like everywhere we have been are very very friendly and welcome us to their island. We rented a motorcycle again as it is the only way to go. In most of our travels the motorcycle riders are 50% locals and 50% tourists. Here on Koh Yao Noi it is 95% locals and 5% tourists. We really feel like we are living with the locals here. We've toured the island on our little bike a lot as it only takes approx 45 minutes to go around the island (only one road). The island is starting to show little signs of developing and talking to the locals they are not sure if this is good or bad. The main industries on this little island are fishing and rubber. Kelley
Choosing dinner!
A German tourist caught me looking at the catch of the day and asked to take my photo haha! has become facinated with the Rubber trees and how they harvest the rubber. There are only two or three restaurants on the island and we have tried them all. As usual the food is Great especially the seafood. Today we rented a kayak and kayaked over to a little island called Koh Nok. If you have watched the movie Castaway this island reminds me of the island in the movie. Not inhabited with a beautifull beach. There were a couple of other couples there when we arrived but they left shortly after we arrived. Here we were on our own little island. Wow!
Unfortunately tomorrow we are going to leave Koh Yao Noi and start working our way home. We are going to take a Boat to Phuket tomorrow and spend the day and evening there. The next day we fly to Bangkok and will spend the night there before our long flight home. We can't believe it has been almost three weeks since we left home. We will add more to our Blog later and I'm sure we'll say many, many more times how Great it has been here and how we can't wait to come again.
Til later
Terry and Kelley

Loved those toes!! I think those toes have been in a number of incredible places lately, good on you. Thanks for the incredible blogs and pictures, it really is too bad that one couldn't just drop in, but alas, time travel is still a thing of the future. Happy belated B'Day to you both. I loved the map and the gassoline, a little different perspective is always a good thing. Enjoy you time left together. Tammy
