Here I am in Shangahi! Whew, it was a lot of work getting to where I am now. Where am I now, you ask? Well, I've just moved into my permanant residence for the semester and I'm ecstatic to have internet. I've met my roommate, who's really awesome and from North Carolina. The dorm we are staying in (the international student dorm) I believe is far better than the rest of the dorms and just got remodeled last year. It's way better than anything Umass has to offer. I'll upload pictures of the dorm and everything else later when I get the chance.

So, how did I get to where I am now? Good question. It's a bit of a story/adventure. So, my schoolmates Kyle, Jackie, and I flew to Chicago, and from there to Shanghai. During the flight to Shanghai (14.5 hours) I saw 2 sunrises, 2 sunset, the tundra on 3 different continents, and passed near the North Pole. When we got out of the airport, we took 2 taxis to our school (an hour ride from the airport). My luggage, Jackie, and I rode in one, while Kyle rode in the other. Kyle's taxi took off wicked

fast, and we assumed he got to the school first. But, apparently not. Kyle was no where to be found. So Jackie and I did a lot of walking around trying to find where we were supposed to stay temporarily, all the while looking for Kyle and the 4 suitcases he was stuck with. Eventually, we found Kyle AND the luggage AND where we were staying. It was a hotel on the campus. That was all Friday afternoon.

Saturday morning, we were meeting another Umass student at the airport. Her flight got delayed, though we didn't know, but we waited around and found her. We explored a bit yesterday (saturday) and crashed pretty early in our rooms. Today was the big day! We got to move into our dorm rooms. Very exciting stuff.

So, I promise I'll upload pictures once my laptop has internet (im in the computer lab right now). I suggest you all subscribe to my blog, that way, when I update it you get an email! Handy, right? I thought so.

Major difference between here and Taiwan? There's a lot less English floating around. Thank goodness I know enough Chinese to get by, or
