Entering Mexico
Just across the border. Well today we drove from the resort to Nuevo Progreso. It is a border town only about 43 miles worth of driving away. It is a safe place with mostly shopping for activity so needless to say, Marilyn liked it a lot more than I did but I still liked it as an excursion. It is basically one main drag and it is quite repetitive after you go the first block or so. Pharmacy, dentist, restaurant, store with useless crap for sale.....and then it does that all over again for a mile or more. The locals don't mob you too aggressively though which is good. The armed Federales are out in force with automatic weapons and all associated regalia, but are friendly. As you can see, I got two of them to pose with Marilyn which for some strange reason they were happy about...no doubt much happier than to have me pose with them....go figure. Can anyone say, short skirt minus the panties? There are some good prices so we did get a bottle of Triple Sec, and a couple movies as well as some vanilla and chocolate. We ate at the Red Snapper which sounded most appetizing to me
for reasons I will leave to everyones imagination. Anyway, by the time you drive down there and then go back through customs and declare your purchases, pay the duty and wait in line to do it, then drive back, you are pretty much doing something fun for the day rather than saving all that much money. Again it was a near perfect day weather-wise at about 77 degrees and dry as a dog bone. We still got three sets of tennis in before we went down there and were back at the club before five. All in all a real fine day.
