1: Band in Plaza de Armas 30 secs

Guess we are here - we have a car and license plate
We arrived at Philly International in plenty of time to catch our "on-time", no weather delays, flight. We did get a de-icing before we left, felt like a cool morning shower...............as we took off for our 3 1/2 hour flight. We resisted the temptation to buy the 5-star food and instead brought our own. Our landing was 10 minutes early and that meant we had 1 hour before the EAGLES kickoff. We are on Atlantic Time so we are one hour ahead of East Coast time.............oh, did we mention that it was sunny and 84 when we landed.

Took the bus to the rental car, headed to our "residence", At Wind Chimes Inn - Condado neighborhood, and put everything in the room. On went the TV and we watched the first part of the game, oh, did we mention that it was sunny and 84..............then by car, 5 minutes, to Old San Juan - parked and wandered around town - stopping at bars to watch some of the game.

Sites and events in the Old City: the Mayor was being inaugurated today and it was one big celebration and festival. Bands everywhere, police on every corner, the mayor's speech

with an ocean backdrop, dancing in the streets, crafts, and lots and lots of people - great time! We were able to walk many of the streets - stop and spend a moment at an overlook of El Morro Fort, saw a rainbow, and worked our way to Barrachina's restaurant, purported to be the place where the Pina Colada was invented. Of course, we felt it our obligation to try one (we did eat something also - like empanada) and that is where we enjoyed the final quarter and a half of the E-A-G-L-E-S victory!

After eating, we went to Plaza de Armas to watch the 15 piece band (video clip at beginning of this entry) and dancing. The mayor appeared on the balcony above us - just like in the movies - waving and soaking up the adoration.........yeah, right. Oh, did we mention that it is still 84..................back to the room to write this entry................we are now off to dinner and maybe a mojito or medalla light..........some dancing............and a walk on the beach................looking forward to sharing more of our trip in tomorrow's entry.
