We got a cab to the cheap area of town, Banglampu, and the Backpacker's street Khao San Road. A strip dedicated to cheap hostels, cheap bars, cheap market stalls and far too many hippies who obviously just live here. After wandering down, trying to avoid being hassled by Thais offering us anytrhing and everything, we settled on a place with a twin en-suite room with air-con and a pool on the roof. One of the more upmarket places on the strip at 300B each a night (6quid).

Went for some cheap food and had squid with rice and about 7-8 chillis for 1.50. bloody hot! Went back for a swim and some beers before I blocked the toilet again. Apperently Thai bogs don't accomdate English logs very well. Threw up on the beers I had then we went out to find a bar.

Came across one place with a Thai rock band. They were amazingly good playing Metallica, Guns n Roses, Dire Straits, ACDC, Led Zepplin and more. Went to another bar where I noticed a large amount of Thai girls trying to seduce lads like us.

Went back reasonably early (2-3am) to get up and look at the temples.

What? Too many beers?
Hello Adam! We are all missing you like crazy (parlty because mum hasnt made a good meal in a while). Trust you to throw up after having too many beers just one day into your travels, then proceed to find another Bar. The pool on the roof sounds cool! Are you sure the seductive Thia girls weren't ladymen? p.s. perhaps you should have packed a plunger for the toilet! We look forward to your next bloggers news. Love you lots XXX

Hi Adam, love reading your blog so keep it up. Dad wants to see some photos, so how about it? Sounds like you're giving your digestive system a bit of a hammering! I think I should send you a plunger to unblock all those toilets! Are you still in Bangkok or have you moved on? Glad you enjoyed your tuk-tuk ride, I would love to see a photo of you in one. Everyone here is fine, weather warmed up a bit but still pretty cold, grey and miserable:; hard to believe that while we were shivering in minus 5 degrees, you were splashing about in a roof-top pool! Am pleased that you're experiencing this new chapter in your life, but am missing you and worrying about you all the time (as mums do). Anyway, looking forward to reading your next entry, love you lots. Mum xxx
