After a pleasant bus journey overnight, we made it to Hoi An. An ancient Vietnamese town full of old-world charm and warmth, Hoi An is situated 45 mins south of Da Nang and is sited on a riverbank. With its old town market, narrow streets and alleyways and chinese lanterns by night. The restaurants here have just as much to offer from a culinary perspective. Local specialities such as Lau Cao (local noodles, bean-sprouts, veg and beef) and White Rose (shrimp dumplings), and local draught beer for as little as 4000 dong.
Spent 3 days here and it seems so laid back and relaxed compared to Northern Vietnam. The main trade here is tailors specialising in silks, and also the streets are lined with art galleries. We spent the most part of a day looking through all the wonderful galleries and ended up buying 3 oil on canvas paintings to remind of us our time here.
Fell in with a couple of Aussie lasses, Cass & Alison for a night out. Ended up with the Aussies and Scots last to leave again!
