The 4 day inca trek is the hardest most gruelling, high altitude, cold and wet, trek to my knowledge in South America.... however, the photos just show how amazing and spectacular the region is. And those of you at my 21st will recognise a familiar face!!!
Of course, Machu Picchu is the whole reason for it. This amazing and pristine incan lost city is amazing, my only sadness is that Christmas eve, the day i visited was horrendously wet and cold so my photos dont do it justice.
Due to the heavy rainfall, a landslide and a traincrash blocked the only means of entering and leaving Aguas Calientes, the town of Machu Picchu. Thankfully the track was cleared and I utilised my handy spanish to negotiate a free upgrade to a premiere service and avoided having to be delayed by up to 3 hours!! Then after 90 mins on the train and 90 min by bus I was back in cusco at 11.30pm to witness the christmas tradition of kids as young as 5 lighting and setting off fireworks!!!
Feliz Navidad!!!!
