Are you getting bored of that bridge coz I'm not!
Russell - Well as we are in Sydney it is time to sit still for a bit and experience life living in another country. As dull as it might seem that means getting a flat, a job, a life. No more moving around for a while at least.

Sydney is somewhat familiar in an unfamilar way. Anyone who has lived in London will immeadiately recognise many of the place names. You can sit in Hyde Park or catch a train from Kings Cross. You could live is the suburbs of Sydenham, Camden or Croydon (Well I'm sure it made the convicts feel at home!). Equally there are places that sound anything but familiar like Wooloomooloo, Wollogong, Wagga Wagga, Illawarra, Illawong, Wolli Creek and Cronulla. I promise I have not made any of them up! And doesn't it just cause such merriment to the locals when you mispronounce them! I suppose it revenge for all those times they were laughed at trying to pronounce Loughborough.

After searching for an address in Wooloomooloo just for badness, we finally found an appartment in the city centre. It is on the 27th floor of a modern block looking across the Surrey Hills to

East of our Flat
Botany Bay. We have all mod cons, including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym. And all this for less rent than a one bedroomed flat in Tooting! We are sharing with 5 others so there is always someone around for a chat. It is very much like being back at Uni!

We are also impressed with the display of bats we get each night. Hundreds of the flying foxes we mentioned in earlier blogs circle the flat on the way from the Botanic Gardens to - well wherever you're average bat about town goes of an evening.

Once we had the flat we needed the job to pay for it. This has proven harder than I imagined. Although I have spoken to some agents none of them seem to have anything for me, I think am over-qualified!. This has been made all the worse by the fact that Lins managed to find work in the first week here, from her first interview! She is now a recruitment advisor for Toyota Australia. It is also difficult being restricted to 3 month contracts as the only leads I have followed so far have concluded that there is

a possibility they may need the person for longer than 3 months so wont take the risk with someone with visa restrictions. They really don't want to make it easy for you to get a job!

So I am currently living the life of a house husband doing all the shopping and cleaning and making sure Lins tea is on the table when she gets home. I need a job fast!!!!

Although we will be heading out of Sydney and around to see the sights from time to time the blogs will probably be more infrequent for a while. When we get back on the road they will return with avengence. Sorry but there is a wedding to arrange you know!
