Valley of the Giants / Magaret River

Left early to get to the Valley of the Giants. This is a tree top walk amongst the trees called "Red Tingles", thus because the bark is red and tingles is from their aboriginal name. They are very fragile trees hence they buit the tree top walk, the roots grow just under the ground surface and can be cruched if walked on. They are the biggest and oldest type of tree in WA. They become hollow in the middle due to fire, fungus or insect damage, but the bark carries on growing in layers on the outside making them up to 20 metres across at the bottom!!! The biggest one there is called the Grand-mother and is over 400 years old! The metal walkways are suspended on metal pylons, not great if you are scared of heights as you can see through where you are walking! They sway as you walk on them to get the feelin of being in the tree tops, and the highest point is 40 metres high.
Then we went to Margaret River - back to civilisation! There are people and shops!!! Went to the local supermarket as Emma is now fed up of eating tuna and rice - got some decent food!!!
Nice place - must see
