This morning we were back in the pool. Even at 7am, it is HOT in Cairns! Then, we headed to the beach, or rather the lagoon in downtown Cairns. The lagoon has a similar purpose to the rock pools; however this time they also protect us against dangerous jellyfish (box jellyfish and irukandji) found in these parts between October and April. Getting stung by one of these jellyfish can be lethal. There are really many dangerous species in Australia!
This afternoon, we went to Kuranda - a village in the tropical rainforest, in the mountains close to Cairns. There we went on a jungle walk, where we saw the rainforest vegetation, as well as wild turkey - nothing too frightful!

Looks like fun
Bonjour Jean Michel, Nadine, Gabriel and Alize. Thank you for sending your journal and photos. It looks like you are having a wonderful time. You left just in time. The weather has changed to winter. In your honour, I built the first snowperson of the year......The moist snow was perfect for snowman making. Your house is still standing. The snow removal people came yesterday (very prompt).....I didn't see them, but the laneway is clear. Will check your house carefully today to see how the roof is holding up. Everything is fine....We miss all of you. Savour these moments. What a wonderful experience for all of you. Susan and Herb
