Our entire trip from the time we left our house in Ottawa, to our arrival at our hotel in Fiji, lasted approximately 28 hours! It’s a long time to travel, but the trip went very well. Gabriel and Alizé managed to sleep 6-7 hours on the flight from
LA to Fiji, and were not traumatised by the whole experience. They told us they would do it again! But we were all happy to arrive in Fiji!
Fiji - Premier jour
A notre arrivée à notre hôtel, on s’est couché pendant environ 3 heures (puisqu’on était à notre hôtel à 7h00 AM)!
Upon our arrival, we napped for 3 hours in our hotel. After this nap, a bit of time at the pool, and some lunch, we felt ready to start exploring Fiji! We decided to take the local bus - which passed right in front of our hotel - to explore the coastline and the city of Lautoka. It was a great way to explore, even if we were the only whites on board! We felt completely safe (actually during our entire time in Fiji, we felt totally safe). Gabriel and Alizé wondered why the bus didn’t have any windows! We only got a small taste of Fiji - it appears to be a magnificent country with lots to see and do - the sea, the beaches, the mountains, the rainforest, the islands, etc.
Fiji - Jour 2
On day two in Fiji, we took a cruise to the Mamanuca Islands. We cruised around some of the islands, then spent 5 hours on the island of Malolo. We were able to snorkel right from the beach here - with the chance to view magnificent corral and fish. It was Gabriel’s first time snorkelling, but by the end of the day, he was able to breathe with his tube and keep his head in the
water. Jean-Michel was quite jealous that Nadine managed to find Nemo in his anemone! While on the island, we also went kayaking and swam in the pool.
We had only planned 2 days in Fiji, while en route to Australia, but after these 2 magnificent days, it was hard to say good-bye. The Fijians are extremely friendly and it truly is a paradise here. We will definitely be back! We have been to other tropical islands: Barbados, Mexico, Hawaii. But, upon first glance, Fiji beats them all!

Great Pics!
Fiji looks terrific and as the days get colder here in Ottawa, we are envious. Keep the pics coming. All is well on Maplehurst Avenue. Big hugs to all of you. Susan and Herb
