Burmese woman
the Burmese don't need to waste their money on expensive makeup, they make their own using a root (I think it is a root) Hello everyone. I thought I should "create" a blog since a few of you may think that I have been abducted or that I was done in by dengue fever. First let me welcome the "newcomers" to my travelblog. For some of you we go all the way back to high school and for some of you I've had the pleasure of meeting recently.
I will try to keep this short, but first let me apologize for not responding to "messages" left on my travelblog in the past. I haven't checked them in a while but I am doing great (I'm over the Dengue, no problem), thanks for your thoughts and advice.
Just to get everyone caught up, I went back to the states in July and spent 3 months there visiting family and friends. The best part of being back there, besides the pizza, was seeing all of you guys. I am lucky to have such good people in my life. I am sorry that I wasn't able to make it up to Ely this year.
I was thinking of going back to Park city, Utah, and working a ski season. I found out that my
room at the Alaskan house wasn't available and I didn't want the hassle of trying to find a place to live in Park city during the season (lame excuse I know). I discovered that I had a frequent flier ticket so I decided to "move" to a cheaper place and "live" by working as a "day trader" (i.e. buying and selling stocks). well that was right before the financial firestorm began. I ended up deciding to go back to Thailand based on costs, speed of the internet and quality of life (deep down I wanted to go back to South America). I almost (and I probably should have) canceled my trip the day I was suppose to leave the states because of what was going on in the markets/economy. Well hind sight is 20/20 and now I realize that I should have stayed in the states and found a job. Wherever I land after this "trip" I will have to put down some "roots" and get back to working (I know mom, it's about time).
Warning:here comes some unsolicited advice. Before the "crisis" started I was already "concerned" about the financial future for a few reasons. First, thanks to
my buddy Robbie who I have known since kindergarten, I became aware of the implications that a fiat currency could have on my "wealth" after reading the book - The creature from Jekyll Island. I was also "concerned" about what impact the baby boomers could have on the stock market (a good book to read about this is The coming generational storm). I spent several hundred hours learning about something called peak oil and the implications this might have on the future. Furthermore, I was also "concerned" about how the 54 trillion dollar liability of the US federal government could impact my future, not to mention several other pending "issues/crisis". Then low and behold I ran across someone who had my same concerns and he has put together a free "course" that you can watch on the internet. He basically connected all the dots and said what if ....? The course is about 3.5 hours long and I would highly recommend that everyone (especially us Yanks) watch it because after watching it you may think differently about the future. Just like the writing was on the wall for what is going on now, there are several things going on that
may make the future a lot different than the past. Please check out the course here:
chrismartenson.com Why am I telling you about it? Because I truly believe that it could have a beneficial impact on your life and thus I owe it to myself to tell you about it.
Ok, lets get back to "traveling". The photos in this blog were taken before I left Asia last year and also from a recent "visa run" to Myanmar (Burma). Plus I just took a few snapshots this afternoon to give you a view from the top of my "hotel". As far as what I am going to do next, good question. I will probably stay in Thailand for 1 or 2 more months and then I may go to Southern China and travel for up to two months. Actually, Jason and I are suppose to head up there in a month via Burma. My return flight is actually from Sydney but I can't afford to make it to Australia or New Zealand unless I find "work". So, to all my friends in these locations, given the current economic situation, what do you think the chances are for a
loved by the world
with a new President what will the T-shirt makers do? I don't speak French but I think it means a finger of happiness. p.s. I don't condone violence Yank (i.e.an illegal) to find work during the Feb - Aug timefrime?
I promised to keep it short so no I will say, "until next time".
