This morning Amanda was still a bit ill and were about to go down to the “local clinic”, but she seemed to come right eventually - not quite 100% but just about.

Due to our late night we didn’t manage to get up in time for the free breakfast our Hostel puts on between 9 and 10am - so we ate Sunita’s oreo cookies and got a burger from McDonalds just to make sure that we were entering American culture in the upmost of true American style. Attached you will see a photo of Shannon standing half dead in front of me at the queue at McDonalds. We both pretty much felt the same until we had that fatty McD’s goodness in our stomachs.

We then decided that eating at McDonalds every day would probably be a pretty bad thing, we trekked out to a supermarket called Deiei to stock up on some supplies. The bus system on Oahu is fantastic, it is $2 to anywhere on the island, and you get a free return trip if you return within 3 hours. I took some photos of some humorous American groceries, including the all time favourite “Fat Boy EggNog Ice Cream Sandwich”. Sunita was telling me that one of those babies contains 500 calories, which is ¼ of what the average adult needs in an entire day (i.e 2000 calories). Sunita was saying that many Americans consume more than 3500 calories a day - I can see why it would be easy to do. The breakfast “cereal” that Sunita is holding up are just pure chocolate chip cookies that you eat with milk. Mmmmm. I also found some products named after my very own lineage.

In the afternoon we had a nap - woke up in time to cook some pasta for dinner and then went for a bit of a stroll through Waikiki again. I have found that it is quite a work of art trying to take photo’s at night, most of the time they do not come out very well but I have attached a few for your enjoyment.
