I just walked home from class which takes me through the Luxembourg Gardens, by the Montparnasse Tower, and through the Montparnasse Cemetery. Fall is really starting to show here, it makes Paris feel cozy. I started my second week of classes today. I have class Tuesday-Friday, so it leaves plenty of time to travel and explore. Each class is three hours long, once a week, taught in french. My french language class is three times a week and phonetics and history are once a week. Our classes have a majority of American students but there are also students from Columbia, Brazil, Japan, China, Burma, Vietnam and Russia. I love hearing the different accents speak french. After each class, my head hurts from listening to so much french, but I've already noticed it becoming easier.
This weekend in Paris was Nuit-Blanche, a night where there were art exhibits, concerts, and museums open from 7pm-7am. We planned on trying to find different locations to see this, but we still don't know the city very well so we ended up having a night of wine under the Eiffel Tower and soaked up some incredible people-watching. On Sunday, Dani and I went to the Musee D'Orsay. All the museums in Paris are free on the first Sunday of each month. Musee D'Orsay is known for its impressionist exhibits, so we were able to see some incredible exhibits and an exhibit on "Chat Noir" the old puppet theatre in Montmartre in addition to the incredible sculptures in the main gallery. Sunday night, our friend Tarik who lives in our foyer, made us his native Moroccan dish. He is hosting two guys from Argentina through the site "Couchsurfing" where travelers meet up with hosts for free. In return, last night (Monday) they made us a tasty lentil dish from Argentina with potatoes, carrots, peppers, and sausage. The atmosphere of the foyer is incredible, it is so diverse. After dinner we were sitting and talking with people from Morocco, Germany, Portugal and Argentina. So many different languages were being thrown around and we were pretty much the only people that spoke only two languages.
We have a week-long vacation at the end of this month. Dani and I are planning a trip to Amsterdam, Hambourg, Berlin, Munich, and Brussels on the Eurail. We hope to "couchsurf" or stay in hostels.
Bisous!
Kaitlin

Just *sigh*
I'm sitting here in the law library (again or still, it's all the same) and I feel SO happy that you are there and seeing all of these things and meeting all of these people. The art you are seeing takes my breath away. You are the perfect person to experience all of this. Soak it up, lady! xo

Ah... Paris...
I missed seeing Perrier. I hope he is OK? What a treat to see and hear all about your adventures. Je t'aime beaucoup! You may have to publish a new coffee table book of your pictures! Maman

Your descriptions, and especially your pictures are so precise and focused I feel like I was there. Art, music, wine, study - you are doing it right. Thank you for sharing.
