I think the cold winds in Barcelona stuck me with something. Woke up with the sniffles and a slight scratch in my throat. Walk it off. Walk, walk, walk it off. Rub some dirt on it.

Took the early bus out of Barcelona to Girona with one of the girls from the room, so I could have some time to explore the small town before flying out. She had an early flight, so we just grabbed a quick breakfast at the airport. Didn't take too long to see the old town - cathedral, Arab baths, old wall, la ramblas (nothing compared to the Barcelona ramblas) - but worth the few hrs. Just a short walk from the train station to the old town. I've never done so much walking in my life - maybe all 30yrs combined - as I have since I got to Europe.

I arrived in Rome to clouds and cold - thanks Jen. Luckily I made it to the hostel just before it started pouring down rain! The thunderstorm made it an easy choice to stay in for the night. Just grabbed some dinner across the street, then hung out at the bar with the Vancouver roomies - who all left the first day.

Yesterday I decided to walk off more of the cold I acquired in Barcelona. Said ciao to the roomies as they headed off to southern Italy, and hit the streets of Rome. Walked around trying to find a grocery store for a cheap drink (about 1/4 cheaper than at the restaurants and stations). Finally found a .40eur 1.5L bottle of water and was set. The colosseum, palatine hill, circus maximus, arch, etc, etc, etc. I was in full camera-whore mode yesterday, which means lots of pics. Backed up my pics on the hard drive and saw the count at just under 1200 total since I left! Still have a few more days in Rome, plus Florence, Venice, and more time in London. Unfortunately, this hostel has a 30min limit per day for internet, so I probably won't be putting too many pics up. I'll try my best though, maybe I can find a cheap cafe.

Starting to get homesick though. Miss a lot of the conveniences of home, good cooking (mine), and familiar faces. It's just a little different sharing good times with strangers. No inside jokes, language barriers, etc. Anyways, got up late today, got to get more walking in to get rid of this cold.

Curse?!?!?!
Hahaha, thanks for the props in the title. =) Yes, I arrived to Rome in lots of damn rain. It got better. I just talked to one of my Rome hostel mates today, what a coincidence. Work it out in Roma. Gelato not as good, but the pasta is for real....
