I made it back from my trip to eugene and aprovecho thursday afternoon. both rides i received were kind, one of which i had great conversation with. the other preached at me at how envirnmentalists beat their drum loud when they are not fully researched, and that global warming is a farce. he was frustrating to sit with, harmless, but annoying. and he smoked grape swisher sweets so i smelled pretty gross the rest of the day.
my time in eugene was fantastic, i danced a lot. i worked really hard on both my leading and following. i feel like i improved greatly in both areas, especially leading which i haven't done as much of as following. i arrived saturday around noon to the saturday market and walked around that for hours. i danced at the drum circle, saw a older biker type man with gold chains around his boot stomp slightly off beat to the drums (this made me smile, i love that people there seemed to be excepted in whatever expression they chose), and met the man that made xochitl's tree pendant. tuesday i traveled to aprovecho (a well-known sustainable farm just outside of cottage grove) with a friend of mine (i met her at fafsa land in lawrence) that has been work trading on it for 5 weeks. it is a wonderful space, they probably have about an acre of garden with all kinds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. they were doing a internship that was called the 100 mile diet. all of the food and drinks they put in their body had to be withing a 100 mile radius of aprovecho. it was a great feeling, and opened my awareness to think more about where my food comes from.
since thursday it has been raining here, all day and all night. not 100% consistent but pretty much all the time. tomorrow it is supposed to not rain, or not rain as much so kaitlyn (one of the lovely work trade ladies here) and i are headed to grants pass to get to highway 199. from there we will hitch out to the coast and be beach bums for a while on our way down to berkley (where her peeps and car are). from there we will take her car (possibly to meet up with another work exchange lady that has been here with us at the gypsy cafe, if she will be there and wants to go with us to the next farm) and drive down to south of santa cruz to another organic farm. the place sounds really great and the man we talked to about coming sounds like a character, he is excited to have us.
so i am soon to be off again, granted i feel okay tomorrow (today i kept getting dizzy). i am super excited for the adventures that await my friendly travel companion and i.
i hope you all reading this are well, and life is treating you kindly.
