There have been some great names in the history of football but no team will go down in history quite like the winning team in the match held in a small village called Kandi. On the winning side were Eric Jong (Brilliant Orange) Josh (Kenyan and our driver) Julius Caeser, Winston Churchill, Georgy Porgy, and Cisco all representing Malawi. Donald Duck choose to remain on the side.It quickly became apparent that to make things a bit easier for the muzungu (whites) the locals take on more international names which are often bizarre.

When we were invited down to the village to play footie we jumped at the chance (sort of - the previous nights beach drumming party had left us a little fragile). Zoe volunteered to be soccer mum and brought the oranges for half time and had a fine old time with the spectators some 15 small children who were exceptionally harsh football critics who would not be silenced.
The losers were Andrew (UK and our tour leader), Matt (Aussie and wild) Captain Morgan (Malawi, drunk, originally goalie but due to inability to stop ball was relegated to referee where he stood on the sidelines slurring to Zoe and generally missing all the action), Banjo and the rest of the crew. It was a great experience and a good chance to spend time with the local guys.
Moving onto Chitimba from Kandi Beach we camped out on the beach. For some reason everyone else had pitched their tents behind the house so we had sole possesion on the beach while they were tormented at 3am every morning by the cockerell which seemed to view the campground as it's sole domain. There our main activity was a hike from town to a place called Livingstonia. This town was founded as a missionary post in the highlands near the lake. The town itself was nothing too special but the walk was quite an achievement as it took us 9 hours of hiking to get to and fro the place. We did find a moment to cool off under a waterfall which was lovely.
