Hello Everyone!
Well, I'm far away from the familiar yet again, and I have to say it feels GREAT! Being back in Ljubljana, even just for one rainy day, I feel like my soul has been revived and is ready to take on the world yet again (don't worry mom, I won't just yet...)! I had a fantastic, but long journey to get here. In Vancouver I met a wonderful woman named Billie, a singer songwriter photographer on her way to the Beatles fest in Manchester. We parted ways in London, where I got on another plane to Venice. After landing it was a bus ride to the train station, a train to a small town on the Slovenian-Italian border called Gorizia, where my friend Iva graciously met me and we drove to Ljubljana, arriving well past 1 in the morning!
Today, of course was a jet-lagged day, but no worries because it POURED rain for most of the day, and I was very happy to sit in one of the countless Ljubljana riverside cafe's, drinking a Bela Kava and reading. This evening I met up with my friend Iva and she escorted me to a 75th birthday party for one of Slovenia's most famous song writers, where I got to hob-nob with some of Slovenia's finest musicians and radio-personalities! I must say it's nice to have a journalist for a friend... it's like having an all access pass sometimes! Afterwords we made our way through the rain to a small outdoor/indoor festival where I ran into the fabulous Igor... my old swing dance teacher! Of course, he invited me to a couple swing parties which I will definitly report about over the coming week!
That's it for today! Sorry no photo's just yet but they are coming mom I promise! I feel a bit strange taking photos here because I don't fully feel like a tourist... I'm just visiting an old friend and home!!
