Mornin' Mornin'
That's a traditional Bequia greeting. The people here are so freindly. I've really enjoyed the hours I've spent just walking up and down the roads and smiling and waving to the islanders.
You know some places in the world one might be alarmed if you were confronted by a young man carrying a machete. But here on Bequia its a common tool. Everywhere I walk I see the long blades use for everything from eating utensil to lawn mower. Just an opening thought to get your day started.
Day 18....Today I walked up a road called Cinnamon Garden. I thought it was the last remaining road on Bequia I hadn't climbed, but I did just find one more I'm going to check out tomorrow.
There's a little construction going on here on the island, but not a whole lot. When building a home here its all bout the view. The steep hills make construction more challenging, but the views are amazing.
In town, they're just about finished with a new government primary school that's going to be very nice. School here starts in September. The children I've talked to are excited about school starting
Neighboring Islands
Battowia left and Baliceaux at right back up.
I can't believe its already that time of year again.
One of the things that makes Bequia and the entire Grenadine chain so appealing is the fact that there are so many neighboring islands set so close together. It makes sailing from one island to the next much easier.
I've gone to eating two shortbread cookies a day. Those delicious home-made goodies from the Gingerbread. If I don't leave the island soon, I fear I'll be going through a pack a day.
My fellow renters arrived yesterday. It's the mother-in-law of the twin sister of one of the villa office girls (are you lost?) They're staying in the two bedroom main house upstairs from me. Now I can't shower with the windows wide open and run around the apt. nearly naked. I'll have to keep the Olympic cheering down as well.
Well, that's all from Beautiful Bequia.
Five days to go.
Yah, mon

Gary told me you had left for your trip so I googled your name and found your blog. The island looks fantastic and I really like your pictures. Have you gotten to do any recreational diving? I read in one of my Caribbean magazines about Tobago. I have enjoyed reading about your adventures. I may have missed it but where did you get your supplies and what route did you take to get to the island?
