Got to the kennels just after 8 am and the lady who runs the kennels was waiting at the gates and Marg thought that she was o/k so we left the dogs. We headed off to Katherine Gore for our 9am cruise. The cruise was timeless land which covered 3 Gores and took 3 ½ to 4 hours, It was interesting to see the stunning aboriginal rock art nestled on the rock walls in the Gore.

Changed boats 3 times as the water level is low as it is getting close to their wet season again. Nitmiluk tours floats the boats down from the other Gores just after the wet season finishes for maintance, then take them back and leave them at difference Gores as the water level drops they can’t bring them back to base. The Gore was stunning with different colour in the sandstone. At it flood peak in the 1990’s the Gore water level rose 18 metres, arrived back at the information centre about ½ hour late as on the way back we stopped for morning tea and then they had trouble starting the motors.

Had lunch at the café there and off again but this time to the heli pad. The cost of the flight was $290 and I thought that I may have wasted the money as Marg really love heights (not) but it was only for 22 mins with a stop ½ way for photo shots.

There was 3 pilots there, marg asked them “do you guys carry spare undies as I am scared of heights” and they said that they just run out of adult nappies. Marg asked who was the unlucky pilot and a guy named Nathan said that she will be o/k. Marg then asked Nathan how long he been flying and his reply was “just got his licence from eBay last month” .

We had to be weighted that’s when Marg said “that’s does it I’m not going”. There was 1 more booked in for the flight a woman named Lorraine she got shotgun seat on the 1st half of the flight.

Well the flight was not long enough for Marg and I totally loved it. Nathan was a great bloke with top personality. Marg told him that he was the only bloke that could tell her what to do and shut her gob and listen, he laughed at that. What a great experience we can’t wait to we go to the Bungle Bungles. This is a must experience.

WE drove back to get the dogs and the woman knew which one Bailey was surprise, surprise NOT. While there he was alert, barking at birds or what ever moves. We apologised but she said he wasn’t that bad just doing guard duty in a strange place.

They carried on as if we left them there for months instead of a day, so Bailey and Chloe have had their 1st experience in a kennel and we got evil look of them. Marg spoke to a young couple behind us at the van park and they recommended Oasis Caravan Park in Darwin but to book as they were turning away about 30 vans a day.
