You'll never fit down there!

Nibby- We've been in Vietnam for 10 days now and it had barely stopped raining! We decided before arriving in Ho Chi Minh City that we wanted to stay somewhere slightly more up market so we could get an internet connection in our room, good job too because with all the rain we ended up spending quite a lot of time in our room listening to it pelt it down outside!

Our first full day in the city we went on an organised trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels which were used by the communist northern government of Vietnam in the Vietnam war. It was a really interesting day and we got to go down into the tunnels for a crawl around. Literally no space at all and these ones had been widened for all the fat western tourists to visit! It was really strange to think that people were living and sleeping in these tunnels for so long. We weren't in them for longer than 5 minutes and that was more than enough time. I'm not one to suffer from claustrophobia but that was ridiculous! Our tour guide was really good. He had first hand knowledge and

experience because he'd fought along side the Americans at the time of the war. After that the rain began so we retired to our room to watch films and veg-out!

The next day we booked a flight to an island on the south coast of Vietnam called Phu Quoc not really taking into consideration that it's raining all the time! That was booked for 3rd Aug so we had a few days to bum around the city and explore some more in between downpours. We went to the art museum and local market one day, Notre Dame Cathedral rip off and post office another, then tried to do some bikini shopping but with absolutely no luck what so ever! These petite Vietnamese ladies just don't cater for us “Busty Brits!”
1st August was basically a right off. We planned to go to an amusement and water park but instead it rained... and rained... and rained!!! Infact it rained so much so quickly that the roads flooded. It was quite a sight seeing everyone driving there scooters down the road in knee deep water. People were breaking down left right and centre. I say it was a right off but

we did find something to do. I got myself the cheapest hair cut I think I'll ever have for just over 1 pound and then we both had an hour long massage. Good times I hear you say. Indeed!!! Possibly the best massages we've ever had (sorry maria!).

The next day was really great fun. We went to the park that we'd planned to do the day before and had pretty good weather for most of the day. It was a really cool place. Had some rides like Alton Towers, lots of wildlife to look at, mainly snakes and crocs, and the best of all, an ICE WORLD! It was amazing! It was a massive room with huge ice sculptures in it. There was the Taj, pyramids, great wall of China and much more. You got given a big warm coat to wear when you go in, it felt like I was back at Asda apart from it being bright pink! Then for the main attraction, Dam Sen Water Park! Matty was like a child here. Very excited! I faced my nemesis and went on lots of scary slides (not all of them though!). There were a couple of

2 person slides that were really cool. We had about 2 hours worth of fun there before the rain set it. Not bad!
After 6 days of rainy city life it was time to fly off to the beach...
