Entering the Yellowstone Park, it was as if someone said "que the eagle" and with that an American Bald Eagle came flying down the Gardiner River, very cool!

Blog from Emma:
Yesterday we went to Mammoth Hot Springs. It was neat you could see steam coming from the springs and small waterfalls. The smell was horriable. :-( It smelled like boiled egg salad sandwiches that my mom makes). The water temputare was over 212 degrees farenhight!

Right after that we went to Tower Falls. There we had lunch and then went on a hike to see Tower falls. We got to see it from the top but the bottom was blocked off. But there was a path to the yellow stone river that had fallen down trees on it. We climbd over them and went to the river. there were fast rapids. if you throw a stick far enough the rapids will take it away very fast.

We next went to the Upper and Lower Falls, the drops are great than Niagra Falls, mom was (go figure) nervous because you could walk right along the river with rapids that are to high be be rated to be rafted on. Our hike from the upper to the lower falls was very cool until we came to Uncle Tom's Trail. It was 328 steps and trails down about 3/4 of the way to the bottom of the Lower Falls. We saw a rainbow on our way down the trail. Once we got down and took some pictures we knew what awaited us........the long trip back up. Once we reached the top we were hot, tired and tired.

On the way out of the grand canyon of yellowstone we were backed in traffic. we were wondering what was going on???? Then a lady told us that 2 elk were right next to the road. so when my mom saw the HUGE antlers she was like "i have to get out of the car". so we did and we saw a huge elk!!! (see pics) he didn't run away when we went near him!!! it was amaizing!

As we were falling asleep in the car, mom and dad wanted to stop on one more place on the way back to the camper......The Boiling
River. We had to change in to our swim suits in he car before we could head down to the river. A hot spring dumps into the Gardiner River and has two areas you can hang out in. The water coming out of the hot spring is over 212 degrees, which is good because the river water is freezing. Once you find the warm spot you don't want to move. Rachel and I stayed in for along time even though mom and dad were ready to leave we weren't going any time soon.

After spending 10 hours in the park it was a great way to end the day. we came home, had dinner, and dad and I fell asleep by 9:00.

glad to see the girls getting their speed and agility training in! They should have no problem playing the entire game. Next short trip have them job beside the car....

Hey Coach Tim, I would try that, but the rangers frown upon us leaving the car at any time because of the bears and bison. : ) My dad says we should, because if we see a bear we have to run faster. :( Emma

Yellowstone
Wonderful blog, Emma. Your descriptions were great! I would love to see an elk close up like that. All that hiking--all of you must be dropping pounds like crazy. Can't wait to hear more of Yellowstone's magic.
