Hola!
Well this is our last couple of days in Peru so I thought I´d write a quick final blog before we head into Bolivia.
After recovering from the Inca Trail we headed to Puno and hopped on a boat on Lake Titicaca. The lake is the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800m and is pretty big being approx. 90 by 40 miles and is shared by both Peru and Bolivia. We stopped at some floating islands which are made of reeds and were pretty cool and the families just float about on them making stuff out of reeds to sell to tourists. There started off being about 12 islands but then due to bust ups they chopped bits off and floated away and now there is about 30 islands! Easy way to get away from annoying neighbours!
We carried on to a large non floating island where we spent the night with the local families. Craig and I stayed with an old couple and there daughter with her daughter and a 3 week old baby! They fed us and then dressed us up in the traditional clothing for a bit of a disco! It was
cheesy but good fun and was a good chance to practice some proper Spanish again.
We are now in Puno and sue to some strikes going on we are stuck here another day before we can head to Bolivia. We have both had a great time in Peru and not knowing a lot about Bolivia, are looking forward to that.
Hope everyone is well
Helen & Craigxx
