Hey everyone!!

Sorry but this is going to have to be a quick entry as i dont have much time left on the internet (no internet in the hostel here so im in an internet cafe!) and im afraid i dont have my camera cable with me either so ill have to upload the fotos another time! sorry! :o(

Got to Salvador after the nightmare bus journey on Wednesday night! Stayed in a really cool hostel run by travellers so they were really relaxed and friendly! Didnt meet anyone that first night and ended up having a really early night because we were so tired from the bus ride! Unfortunately didnt get much sleep as Richard was coughing ALL night (although he said it must have been in his sleep because he slept great - NOT what i wanted to hear hehe!!) as he decided not to get any cough medicine despite me telling him to! men! And also the hostel had a dog (cute black labrador) and 2 cats and unfortunately the cats decided to sleep in our room that night and one kept scrambling up and down my bunk bed giving me approximatley 50 heart attacks during the night hehe! :o)

Got up early Thursday morning and went for breakfast in the hostel, there was a big table of people having breakfast - it was a tiny bit intimidating and i nearly went to sit somewhere else but i made myself go and introduce myself and sat down and im so glad i did because they were all lovely and ended up going to the beach with them that day! There were 2 Danish girls, an English guy, an American guy and 2 Swiss girls! It was cool being able to talk German to the Swiss girls although still cant understand much when Swiss people stop speaking proper German and talk to eachother in their dialect! Maybe i will by the end of the year though! :o) The beach was quite nice but nowhere near as nice as Rio, the water was quite dirty and there was so much rubbish in the sea! The weather was absolutely insane though - it was glorious sunshine and blue sky and then the heavens would open and there would be a mini tropical storm (some beachhut guys have us big umbrellas to hide under though so it was ok!) - that happened 3 or 4 times but then after 1pm we had a really nice afternoon!! Had some yummy local food on the beach and the guys went surfing, i decided to give it a miss as the waves were HUGE and i knew id drown within 2 minutes! :o)

That evening the English guy went to pick his friend up from the airport who was equally as nice and hilarious as he was and they ended up taking me under their wing for the next couple of days which was really cool! :o) That night we all went out together, with a few others who had just got there - including a German girl who was so excited that i could speak German that she never left my side until i left last night! hehe! Richard wasnt very impressed as he had spent the day with her while we were at the beach and then apparantly i came back from the beach with all my friends and then stole her away from him too! ooops!! :o( He was the only person who wasnt at all impressed that i can speak German - think he was a bit jealous!! I did try teaching him some German a few weeks ago but gave up after 5 minutes - ever seen the FRIENDS episode where Phoebe tries teaching Joee French?! It was JUST like that!!! hehe!! He wasnt repeating even vaguely similar words back to me! hehe!! That night we ended up wandering around town for a while (constantly being asked for money and trying to be sold horrible jewellry!! - earlier that day Richard ended up paying 20pounds for a disgusting necklace because the guy refused to give him any change - ooops! so i stayed well clear of those people!) and then sat outside in a bar with live music and drank caprinhas! We then tried to find the Samba club we had been looking for, which turned out to be an African club with not a single person in it so we left again! :o)

Friday morning i spent with the German girl, wandering around town and at the travel agents trying to plan the rest of my trip! Then i did my washing on the roof which was really hard work! I decided to be a cheap-skate and not pay the 3pounds for them to do it for me (which i regretted after about 20seconds after i started scrubbing hehe!) and do it by hand! It took forever but i felt like a proper traveller! hehe! :o) Took aaaaaaaaaagges to dry though because i hung everything up dripping wet! oops! :o) Then in the afternoon I went to a local market with the 2 English guys and wandered around town which was fun! The market seemed a bit dodgy at first so they took on the role of bodyguards - one in front of me and one behind! bless! But actually it was fine and everyone was really friendly! That night the 3 of us went out for a local dinner along with the German girl and the American guy! The 5 loud crazy American girls who just moved into my room came along later which was cool! Usually i find Americans a bit annoying but they were all really lovely!! I nearly tempted a couple into coming travelling with me (they were only on a 2 week holiday) but unfortunatley it didnt work! hehe! After dinner we went back to the hostel to recruit more people and then went to a big Reggae party on the other side of town which was really fun!!

Sorry ive got to go - out of time!! Will write a bit more when i add the photos! But Salvador generally wasnt that amazing - i loved it more because of the people and the friends i made there rather than the place!!

Heading to Belem with the bus tomorrow (34hours!!!) and from there i think ill fly to Manoas and then get a 4 day bus through the Amazon to Colombia!! Quite scared as im going alone now (didnt want to travel with Richard anymore!) but hoping ill meet people along the way! :o)

Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
