Hi everybody,

Most of you will have received my emails or Wes's emails, so none of this will be new to you. But it does enable us to add photos which is exciting!! But just to repeat what we have done over this first week.......

We arrived in the UK after a very very very long 30 hour plane flight - suprisingly full of energy. We explored around Knutsford (the town we're staying in) for a few hours before coming back to the unit and CRASHING. The next day, incredibly tired, we did a bit more exploring and went to a nearby town called Northwich to see what it was like.

On Thursday (day 3) we drove down to a town called Witney (near Oxford) to visit Wes' brother Mick at the pub he works at. We went via Stratford-Upon-Avon to have a look at Shakespeare's birthplace. We spent Thursday afternoon and evening with Mick and stayed the night at the pub where he works (very nice!). On Friday we spent the morning in Oxford, where we did some shopping and went through Trinity College of Oxford University. Overall we thought it was a very nice town.

This is one of our MANY local pubs - The White Bear

Early afternoon we started on our way to Canterbury (south east England) to visit Wes' friends who live there. We stayed with them for two nights and during our stay there visited the Canterbury Cathedral....the only "touristy" thing to do in Canterbury. Other than that we just explored the town and caught up with Ben and Caroline.

Sunday morning we began driving to Bath (south west England). We stopped at Stonehenge on the way....really just so we could say we've been there. (Wes was much more excited about going there than me). But we got some nice photos of it.......

Bath was lovely! Although it was kind of like a movie that had been talked up heaps....I guess I had even higher expectations of it. The baths themselves were extremely interesting (but boy do they sting you to get inside! I guess you can't really go to Bath without visiting them and they know it!!).

Anyway, apart from doing all the touristy travelling around we've been bargain hunting - because of course we're still spending the Australian dollar.....and no matter how many times people tell you not to convert back it's kind of hard not to!! So

Wes in The White Bear - note the very low ceiling!
we've been finding some bargain pub meals etc - and we've discovered the English LOVE two for one deals or three for two deals - they're everywhere!!

Anyway, best sign off now, but I'm sure we'll add many more entries to this before we're done. We're meeting with a recruitment agency that's based in Knutsford tomorrow morning - so fingers crossed! I'm looking forward to finding a job - I think it will be nice to work these winter months away!!

Oh and did I tell you - we were driving home in the SNOW the other day! That's how cold it is here! It's CRAZY! That's why I look like a big michellin man in some of the photos.....no, seriously.
