bangkok highlights part 2

hey guys, yes i am still in bangkok and getting quite bored. Particularly in the evenings. I do have some good news,...i made friends with a guy at the hostel but unfortunately he left for India today...boo hoo. So i am back on my own again. today was a particularly lazy day owing to the fact i didn't get to bed till 5am and consequently slept in till 12pm. Ouch! But it was worth it..stayed up chatting and generally having a jolly good time last night.

ooh by the way i saw me a baby elephant on the khao san road. it really shouldn't have been there and it made me a little sad but at least it wasn't in chains and looked to be quite well fed. but i when to touch it i was pushed away by the horrible boys who had taken it upon themselves to use it as a meal ticket. they were selling sugar cane for permission to pat the beast. B********!!!

Oh and i visited bang kwang prison which went rather well but in retrospect it must have been rather weird for the guy i saw to be visited by a complete stranger! the strange thing is he seemed happy and i don't know whether that is because he was generally settled or because he was pleased to see me. You figure. we talked about why he was in there and what he does and where he's from etc, etc. I left feeling quite overwhelmed by the experience.

I will be visiting the famous palaces and temples tomorrow and just generally chill out. tomorrow i will go to the southern bus terminal to book my ticket to Kanchanaburi on sunday and then on saturday i will be visiting chatchuk market. You see how i am trying to spread my days out? 1 week in bangkok is really too long. I can not say what possessed me!! I can not wait for Sunday when my journey really begins.

before that i promise to have some pictures for you. out of sheer boredom i walked around the palace and wat po temple today...absolutely stunning. i can not wait to return there tomorrow.

p.s. oh and mum, it has been raining but only in spurts and that was only today and yesterday. i am pleased to say that i have not yet been caught out in it. Oh, and i will need a whole new wardrobe. Apart from the dresses and the vest top the clothes i brought with me are quite unsuitable!! Love you x
