After a long few days of bachelorette partying and moving, and an even longer quarter, I am finally on my way to Thailand for my summer internship. In typical fashion, I finished everything I needed to do exactly on time with zero extra seconds to spare! That was a relief.

I'm now sitting at the San Diego airport waiting for my first of 3 flights. After giving up my cell phone for the summer I promptly went to the wrong airline terminal, failing to recognize that even though I booked my flights on Delta I was flying American Eagle. The upside was that the very nice Delta agent made sure to book me in all window seats for my travels after being told originally that Delta couldn't select my seats because they were all code shares. I can't wait to not have to sit in the middle.

At the American Eagle counter I instantly made friends with the ticket agent, whose son is alone in Bangkok last night. The conversation was eerily reminiscent of the one I had with mom (call all the time! if you see a tall boy named Andrew, tell him to call his mother!). But it seemed like a good omen for the trip. Fingers crossed.

I'll try to update again from Chiang Mai, although it will be at least 30 hours before I get there....

Hope you love it as much as we do...
So happy for you! I sent you a text message a few hours ago, but now realize it was moot. Enjoy your trip to the other side of the world--nothing but wonderment and magic awaits you. Sawatdee krup...chok dee. (Good luck!)

See, it's not just me!
I'm glad you're back blogging again, too! And see, I'm not the only mom that worries!! :) Tell Andrew I said hi when you find him alone in Bankok! Keep up the blogs, they let us all see the world through your eyes. I still say there's a nice job waiting for you at Nat Geo doing travel stories, but hey, I'm just the mom. ;-) Have a great trip! Love you!!!
