We'd identify them by name, but they'll never see it anyway - they don't read the blog :( Just in case they change their minds, from left to right: Ryan, Mike, Will and Stephanie.

Jen came in on the late, late Amtrak train from Chicago arriving at midnight. As a welcoming to Ann Arbor, Rob took Jen to Arbor Brewing Co. in downtown Ann Arbor where we had a quick drink and hung out with some of Rob’s friends.

We slept in late the next morning, but no worries…we made the most out of the rest of the day. Rob thought the best way to show off his hometown city would be on bike and foot rather than driving, so we hopped onto his parents bikes and trekked 7 miles to downtown Ann Arbor. You know how they say you never forget how to ride a bike, it’s true, but you do forget things like loose pants tend to get stuck in the chains and 6 hours of riding in one day tends to leave you sore for the next day too. Nevertheless, the first big sight we passed was the Big House, Michigan’s football stadium. It’s undergoing extensive renovations but was still a cool sight. Then we pedaled through campus along the ‘diag’, that’s slang for the cut through the UofM campus, parked the

bikes on State St to walk and shop, and finally rode over to Main St. to find dinner. We found another local brewery called The Grizzly Peak which may have marked the beginning of our healthy downfall for the week, but there’s no resisting sweet potato fries. A pitcher of beer? Sure, we rode bikes - that’s exercise, right? Dinner was delicious, but the dark was coming soon, so we headed home.

Once home and comfortably sitting on the couch, we began getting restless again and decided to hit up Priceline for possible deals in Toronto. (Does it seem like we’re advertising for Priceline at this point? Maybe we should try to get free stuff from them too!) Now, we figured that if we were going to splurge on something nice, Toronto was the place to do it, so we set our sights on 4Star hotels in downtown. We didn’t think we had much of a chance once we saw the $213 average, but it doesn’t hurt to try. So we figured we’d shoot low and work our way up - our first bid was $90/night; wouldn’t you know it, they took it! As excited as we were, we

couldn’t help but wonder if we could’ve actually gotten away with an even lower price? Kind of like when you buy a little pack of chiklet gum for 10 cents from a kid down in Rocky Point, then up the road another kid is selling it for 5 cents….you become obsessesed with how low you can really go. Anyway, our winning hotel ended up being The Sheraton Centre downtown and we were thrilled, but….at this point it was already 1am, time to get some sleep in order to wake up again at 7.

Very Entertaining!
It was so good to hear your voice last night. As I mentioned, I completely forgot that your cell phone was "down." Here it is 11:47 am and I've got oodles of work to do, but can't resist catching up on the blog. Your captions under the pics make me chuckle and I love your daily descriptions. Both of you could be writers! Will you be able to print this thing out once your trip is complete? What an amazing memory to have!
