Getting bored

He we are again another day in the mountains today we plan to do a bit of gorge walking in the second biggest canyon in the world. The Tara canyon, but first a drive over the bridge. This is a very impressive bridge called the Durdevica tara Bridge. Then we parked the car and set off for a walk the other side of the bridge where there was a sign for whitewater rafting but after twenty minutes walking we just came across a deserted camp and the end of the path, plus we were still around a 1000 feet from the river below.

Back at the car we decide to drive along the gorge to a town called Mojkovac. Discribed in the travel guide as an old polluted mining town. It Also mentions quiet proudly not to drink the water even if it’s been boiled. Oh joy.

Luck. Yes the hand of god came down as we were driving to Mojkovac and showed us a nice picnic spot not that far from the river. So of the two of us scamper down over the rocks to the river all full of gusto for the walk ahead, mmm. Well its a nice spot to sit and watch the wildlife both swimming and flying. As that was the only thing to do. Its impossible to walk along the river. No paths not even a bank to walk along, but it doesn't matter this is a nice quiet spot.

Twenty minute later.. What's that, a loud hissss. Tess says turning her head up to the road. And spys a coach pulling up full of German tourists. Got nothing against German tourists its just that our piece of heaven has just floated awaydown the river Tara. Ho Hum back to the car.

The journey along the Mojkovac road is only 47 Km but due to it being a winding twisting road it feels like its taking hours, plus its raining again.

What feels like forever we eventually get to Mojkovac, and what a wasted journey. As we arrive to what looks like another mining town which of cause it use to be we try to park the car then take what in the Guinness book of records must be the shortest look round a town. Must have been about five minutes in total. We almost ran back to the car.

The is a nice restaurant as you head out on the left hand side not sure what it called but they do a nice beefsteak. A beefsteak is a steak folded with ham and cheese in the middle then cooked till all the juices are removed out the steak. I think to make you thirsty and end up buying more drink. No I am not cynical. Well maybe a little.

Sorry that you had the bad weather - not much fun, I know. Montenegro isn't really set up for tourists yet, at least not in the mountains. Think of yourselves as pioneers! If you're going to be around Kotor Bay again, I recommend a trip to either Stari Mlini (in Ljuta) or Catovica Mlini (in Morinj) - both great restaurants with fantastic atmosphere and decent food.
