Denver
Downtown from the freeway...at least some of it Saturday, June 7 - Tuesday, June 10 This afternoon we finally made it to Lakewood. Ah...it was nice to settle in and visit with family, but wouldn't you know it, they put us right to work. We took Jen's nephew, Brady, with us to the grocery store to gather food for a big barbeque dinner. Shopping with a five year old was a humorous experience, but it definitely has it's perks - like free pink cookies, and an extra hand at the assembly line self-checkout. He did make us laugh when the lagging machine said "place the item in the bag", and Brady shouted at the machine "We ALREADY did!!!"
By nine at night we were tired, but had already made plans to go downtown and experience the Denver nightlife. We were excited to meet up with Rob's cousin Christina and her new husband, Stefan. They brought along a few of their friends too. Instead of giving Jen's sister, Holly, a tough time for not joining in the fun, we took her up on her generous offer to be our DD for the night. The night began at a pool hall named Terantula's, continued with a brief stint at Pat's,

Right before our generous DD picked us up! and ended up at a dance club named Open Bar. We all had a lot of fun together and Rob and Jen had a reliable, safe ride home at 2 in the morning thanks to Holly. THANK YOU HOLLY! We really appreciated it.
Sunday was a lazy, physical & financial recovery day. We spent the day paying off our first week of bills, enjoying the beautiful Denver weather, and relaxing. Jen went on a hunt for a dress that she saw a girl wearing out on Sat. night while Rob went solo to play disc golf. We met back up with the fam for dinner at Nikki & Andrew's house (Jen's other sister). Andrew's quite the cook, and he made an awesome seafood bisque dinner with homemade cornbread and fabulous red wine. Great work Andrew! But yet again, nothing comes free here; we got roped into babysitting the kids the next morning. Okay it's not really babysitting when you're the aunt. It's really a pleasure and more importantly a chance to get to know my neice and nephew; so we gave back the bottle of wine that came with the kids in the morning (it was a thoughtful gesture

isn't this the cutest moment? though you two :-).
What do you do with a five and two year old and two babysitters who don't have much experience? The park of course. Jen called her friend Kendry from back in high school and he brought his two beautiful kids Kaden & Sadie, and his aptly named dog, Tank, to meet us at the park. We all had a really nice time together, despite two scooter falls, a couple of playground spills, and a LOT of whining and bossing by a small one who will remain nameless. Two and half hours later, we were relieved by "nana", Jen's mom, who they absolutely adore, and we were free.
Tuesday we slept in while everyone else in the house packed for their flight to Chicago. We took our time knowing that our next move required repacking the car for another cross-country journey. By this point, we've nixed our plans to see St. Louis and settled on an all night, straight through journey from Denver to Chicago. Is it possible that our car is even more filled now than before? A few purchases at clothing stores couldn't make that much difference, could it? Regardless, we've got it

Earning our keep - kinda all shoved in tight, the back of the car is again dipping low to the ground, and we're looking forward to a long, long, long 1000 mile journey. Before we left, we met up for one last dinner with Christina and Stefan at their place.
Dinner at Stefan's and Christina's was delicious...blue cheese burgers and potato salad. We also were fortunate enough to see Scotty as well with his BA cut-up jeep...Scotty the birds appreciated your jeep as well! (Scotty had to pull his jeep into the front of Stefan's and Christina's yard and stand on it to fill the bird feeder) Who needs a ladder when you have a jeep? It was great to hang out with everybody before our long haul to Chicago; however, maybe we should have checked the weather before we headed out. Regardless our last meal and evening in the Denver area were great, thanks to everyone in the Denver area that were so hospitable!!!
P.S. We love this whole blogging thing, especially all the comments that we have been getting, so please keep them coming! We have found that this has been a great way to keep in touch with everybody through
