Well its now 6:30pm local time and when I say that I speak as a genuine (1/2 a day old Sydneysider) as I write from shoreside Sydney in a suburb called Manly.

A non descript 7 hour flight from Gatwick landed me in Dubai for an alcohol fuelled breakfast in an Irish Bar, probably called O'Reilleys.

Luckily my dad had given me US$40 as he thought I might want a beer in the airport while I killed two hours waiting for connecting flight from Dubai to Sydney. Killed a few hours and $16 ordering two pints!!! Won't be spending much time in Dubai on my travels in future if thats the price of a pint, they really should consider lowering the price of airport beer to entice you through the airport doors to spend more money in the country and boost tourism.

Anyway, touched down and was met by my mate Simon at the airport who now lives in manly which is handy for the first two nights until I get my bearings and decide to check out the local hostel accommodation or should that be hostelries ???

Anyhow have been consuming beer all day on a whistlestop pub crawl of where they drink in Manly when they are not looking at the golden sand and beach waves from their front garden. If i try to remember the names of the pubs I think they were called pub a, pub b and pub c. But the beer was wet and cheap and thats what really matters, I've never drunk in a pub and commented on what a good name it had 😉

Well am off to sink a few more beers and spend my first night of my travels in Australia -😉, need some sleep as have been of for almost 2 days solid and my head hurts😉

Speak soon

Mike
