on Saint Germain Des Pres square view of south west Paris from La Tour Montparnasse Paris in the spring
The photo above is taken from atop the Montparnasse Tower, in the area of the 6th arrondissement. You can take the elevator up to the 56th floor, where there is a spacious observation area, cafe, gift shop, film about the tower, and plenty of windows for viewing the city.
With each arrondissement, is a different neighborhood, a different feeling. We have chosen to stay in a district that is known for the cafes, and the fabulous shops. These cafes have been popular for over a hundred years with the literary and artistic types whose ideas formed global movements. Whether or not the actual writers and artists really did frequent our favorites, doesn't matter too much to us, we enjoy just the thought of being here on a beautiful day.
We arrived on the fast Thalys train from Brussels, Kate will join us from Krakow, and we all are hitting the pavement in search of the cultural promise of Paris.
I will just put up pictures and let you read the captions to each, there is a second page of photos here. We were
busy during the few days we were here. Keith has this "get-up-and-go" philosophy on sight seeing, so needless to say we see alot in a short period of time.
I on the other hand, would have been content to sit in Jardin du Luxembourg for hours.
But I didn't, and therefore, this is the first of 4 entries!

That is a wierd lamp in the Hotel Dolce la Hulpe. It kinda reminds me of the leg lamp in "A Christmas Story".
