Nice home stay and first fans
After breakfast K and said goodbye to K's dad and drove to Ampawa, a place in the middle of nowhere, about 30 minutes south of Bangkok.
We checked in at a really nice home stay in the early afternoon. We had a beautiful room with a sitting area in front of it. The home stay is at the river and after we had lunch we took off to discover the area. We soon came to a bridge. There were little kids having lots of fun jumping down and of course there was no way K was going to miss out. I let him have a bit of fun and jump off the bridge a few times before we walked on. He was dripping wet of course but it was really warm and he seemed to be dry again in no time. We walked past a lot of coconut plantations. The whole area was so beautiful, I could have walked on for ages...
Back at the home stay it was time to relax. K enjoyed reading the book he found in our room while I wrote my journal. It was really nice to
sit next to the river and see people paddling by in their kayaks every now and then. We wanted to do that too and rented a kayak in the evening. We only had one paddle and K wanted to do all the paddling. He only gave it to me for a while when he was exhausted and we had decided to go back for the sun was already pretty low. On our way we came past two shops that could only be accessed from the river. I very much enjoyed our little excursion 😊
In the evening it was time for dinner - more delicious Thai food. The girls serving us (teenagers) kept looking at me, whispering to each other and giggling. I wasn't sure if that was good or not. Eventually one of them dared to tell K that they thought I was really beautiful and asked him if they could touch me. He translated it into English and I agreed to shake their hands. They then said that I look like Nathalie. I had no idea who Nathalie is and K explained to me that she was Miss Universe a few years ago. They were so excited
and after they had lost their timidity they took their mobile phones and asked if they could take a picture with me. I felt a bit weird about that. They acted as if I were some kind of superstar and all just because I am so "beautifully" white. I eventually gave in and they were happy as anything.
It was time to order some fruit for dessert and K ordered something for me to try. I can't remember the name but at first I thought it looks like big maggots. I'd say it's a mixture of an orange and a grapefruit. It's very juicy and tastes quite nice.
Back at our room K started making jokes like I'm going to be discovered in Thailand. I don't think so!
