Ok guys so i'm in Bali....it's a little scary here when you're on your own, as the locals are very adament that you buy something from them....so much that they start walking with you and touching your arm to try and get you into their shop!! It's OK though as there are plenty of people around and so I don't think much could happen to me - touch wood!!hehe

I've not done too much since i've been here...relaxed and did a bit of shopping and walking along the beach on my first day....where by the way I am famous!! Oh yes...two groups of kinds came up and asked to have their photo taken with me!! I guess it's because of my amazing white skin, just makes me irresistible :P They can't understand why people want to get a tan over here!! bless them

On my second day I went on a tour with another English family....it was really nice to spend time with some other Westeners....they were from Exeter too so not far from the shores of Somerset!!hehe

On the tour we were taken to see some Balinese dancing....this was not entirely as I had expected it to be, as it was more of a physical theatre show than a dance show, still the costumes were amazing and it was interesting to see how the Balinese like to entertain!! We were then taken to a number of arts and craft houses...we saw people painting on silk and weaving, a silver works....and how they create the pieces that they sell, an AMAZING carving house, the things that they do are sooo sooo intricate and beautiful! We then proceeded to a volcano for lunch!!! This was the first Volcano i've ever seen in the flesh, and it didn't disappoint! It's still active but apparently safe....people can even do walks up it!! I took lotts of piccis but am gonna wait til I get to Oz to upload them, as I don't really trust these Balinese computers!!hehe

On the way back from the Volcano we stopped at a Coffee plantation, where we saw all manner of things being grown!! The hottest peppers in the world, cocoa beans, coffee, fruit....the list goes on! I got to try a cocoa bean fresh from the fruit and it was really sweet and lemony....nothing like the chocolate you get at home!! I also got to try a freshly roasted coffee bean, and some hot chocolate and a ginger drink! It was amazing to taste these things in their native country rather than just out of the packet! I think it tastes even better just because you know where it's from and how it was made!!hehe

We also stopped off to look at some rice fields, and finally at a Balinese family compound! This, for me was the BEST part of the day! The family who own and live in the house actually allow the tour company that I went out with bring tourists to their home and look around it! It was sooooo interesting to see how they live first hand and how they go about their daily lives!! The compounds are really interesting too....they don't just have one main building, but a whole aray of them.....one to have siesta's in, one where they lay the dead if its not the right day for a funeral when they die, a kitchen, a temple (facing the mountain) and a main house that they sleep in and have some modern commodities such as a tele!!

That was definately the best day i've had here, and totally jam packed!! Yesterday was a bit of a nothing day again....i just stayed at the hotel, relaxed by the pool, swam and ate!!hehe was nice after such a busy day tho!

Today i'm going shopping again and am gonna have a little swim when I get back...perfect for cooling off!! Tomozzers is gonna be fab as i'm going to a spa in a 4* Hotel!! and it's only costing around 30 pounds for 3 hours worth of treatment and use of the hotels, sauna, jacuzzi and gym!! whoopwhoop :P

I may do some white water rafting or another tour in my last few days, but I am as yet undecided about that!!

I probably won't write on here again until i'm in Perth, as i'm not s busy as I was in Singapore, so there's not as much to write!!hehe

Hope you're all well, and thank-you for all of you're lovely comments and messages....I do love to hear from the UK!!
