Pleasant days by the fountain in the Botanical gardens
Greetings and salutations to one and all!

We have now arrived in Christchurch, after visiting Kaikoura and seeing whales from an areoplane (wonderful!) and clambering up a local mountain in the Kaikoura seaward ranges, up to 1500m (called Mt Fyffe), with much spluttering as we walked up through the clouds and overcast grey sky, to find stunning blue sky (see South Island gallery) and strong winds!

Life continues to be good, as we currently explore the pretty centre of Christchurch city. The weather is mainly fine, with odd days of cloudyness.

Before I forget, I would just like to thank a couple of people for some outstanding gadgets we were given before we left - as we have been using them most days out here! - The Kinetic torch and Leatherman tools, a great MP3 player and Mulifuntional compact bike tool = all of which have in their own way been a great boon.

Some of the weekend hobbies here amoung many Kiwi's seem to be, that on a Saturday you run up your local mountain and on a Sunday, you cycle up it - I kid you not, some of the guys and gals here are uber fit and out up the mountain at the weekend! (Helena and I have observed this whilst I have been eating mince and cheese (an NZ speciality) pie, from the safety of our car seats!)

Anyhow love to all once again, stay safe and don't work too hard! :-)

Chris xx

Christchurch!!
Hey, glad yo finally made it to the pretty town that is Christchurch. My dad lives in St Albans if you were to feel like dropping by. not that I even know the address, but turn up to the church on sunday morning and you'll be sure to find him. (he's the one with the close cut beard lol) So glad it's going well. I could have told you the kiwis were crazy about their mountain walking! (they call it tramping). Love to both of you from me and Ben (currently asleep in his clothes :P)
