Looking at the fort, I just remember the day I explored it with Lolo.
Spring break is crazy!!!

I had a really challenging cruise a couple weeks ago. My teens were partiers which led to lots of problems for me. I’m also struggling with so many guests expressing disappointment in my program, when the main problem they have is the age restrictions - something that is not set by me but I am left to enforce. I’m trying to not let it drag me down, but it can be really difficult at times. Last week I had what surely must be record-breaking (or close to record-breaking) numbers. There were 410 teens onboard who fell into my age category and I had 230 of them regularly in my club. It was hectic, so many bodies filling the place. But the camp carnival girls really helped me out by doing ID-checking at the door, so I could just focus on the teens and trying to run the parties. The group was really nice, and really well-behaved which made the cruise much easier on me than it could have been.

This week, my numbers are still high (140), but it seems downright quiet in comparison to the last couple weeks. My numbers will remain high for the next month, so things will stay busy. The week my numbers drop will be the week my sister & her boyfriend come to cruise with me, so that timing is perfect!

Today we’re back in San Juan. I don’t know if it’s because this was my home port on the Destiny, or just because I love the city so much, but it feels like a homecoming, being here. Yet I don’t feel that way about say Fort Lauderdale, and it was a home port for me both with the Legend and now the Liberty. It must be my love for this gorgeous city with it’s old buildings, forts and winding streets.

I’m not doing anything especially exciting tonight. I’m curled up in a Starbucks, with a hot chocolate and internet connection. Funny enough, Frank Sinatra’s “Let’s Get Away From It All” was playing and right when I sat down he sang “Let’s go again to Niagara”. I’m still so far away, but it feels like I’m home in a sense. And it’s good.

The small red gate at the front you can see, was the original entrance to the city. "In the old days" ships would pull up there and people would enter the city through the gate.
