in the lagoon. Nearly as good as the mirror lakes.
Happy Easter, and I hope you didn't get sick of chocolate today! I had read that the road to Glenorchy from Queenstown is one of the most beautiful in New Zealand - and someone was right. The road follows the side of the lake further up into the hills - mountains? - in fact if you look at the map !!!! you'll see that you could spit across the mountain from where we were a few days ago, on the way to Milford sound, and although you can walk over the hills - allow 4 nights!- the drive takes about 5 hours, all round the houses. Actually, not many houses! The mist was down as we drove there, so we weren't at first aware of what we were heading into, but suddenly blue sky appeared, and so did snow covered peaks and we wowwed!!!The village is in a lovely spot, and several long distance paths end there, being up in the hills. The lake was as blue as blue, and so clear. Also, we walked round a lagoon, where there was a flock of black swans and good reflections too. Many scenes from Lord of the Rings were filmed up here, so we followed the location book to see what we could see. Much is on private land, but we got the idea!
