Malta is a very, very interesting country. Our trip was in the middle of their election and there are two main political parties in Malta, the Labor Party and the Nationalists. On the second day that we were there, according to one of our hotel workers, Malta elected its first democratically elected president. So, needless to say there were parties everywhere.

Our hotel, Hotel Alexandra, was located right in the middle of the largest tourist district so the scenery consisted mostly of restaurants and nightclubs. This part of the country, St. Julians, was very dirty and crowded, but once you leave this area Malta is beautiful.

I arrived in Malta Thursday night and spent most of Friday just getting oriented with the atmosphere of Malta and the location of our hotel.

My first adventure outside of St. Julian's was on Saturday to the Dingli Cliffs, the largest point in Malta. It was a 2 hour, 2 euro bus trip there and back, to spend an hour on a small road on top of these cliffs, but it was well worth it as you can see from the pictures. Speaking of the buses, every bus in Malta was one of the older 1970s VW buses!

Sunday I walked around the little strip of beach in St. Julians and then went to St. Paul's catacombs (see pictures). These were very creepy, but the small town they were located in was a great place just to spend the afternoon walking around in.

Monday a few of us attempted to take a bus to the "prettiest" beach in Malta, but because of the election parties the bus never showed. So, we settled for St. Julian's beach and spent the whole day laying on the chilly beach reading.

Tuesday morning I flew back into Pisa....

I was only in Pisa for 11 hours, so Tuesday night I walked to the Duomo and of course the leaning tower of Pisa. This part of Pisa was very nice and quite, but other than that there's really nothing else of great interest in Pisa.

What a VIEW!!!
Hey, I like the view of the rain storm coming your way, that is beautiful and what's up with the hairdryer, I would be afraid it would blow all my hair off my head. The view of the water is so blue and the water looks so clean and clear. It's like we are enjoying what you have seen. Keep up the great work, it's like you are a professional photographer (it's in the family). May God continue to bless you and keep you safe. Mom and Dad love you and can't wait to see you and ALL your exciting pics.
