Fraser Island
team foto at Lake McKenzie!! next stop was a 3day 2night self drive trip on Fraser Island....the worlds largest sand island, world heritage listed. there were 10 of us in the one 4x4 jeep, and camping out for 2 nights.........the group was quite sound, a few irish, german and the token english....and me the scot!!!!
first we had to go shopping for food and drink, then it was time to hit the sand and explore this amazin island...........the tracks were really rough. we headed to Lake McKenzie first and this place was breath takin......a fresh water lake with pure white sand........stunnin!!!
then we had to set up base camp......some cooked the barbie and the rest organised the tents etc. the group seemed to get on ok......there was a big age difference, rangin from 18-50.....made conversation quite interestin...lol.
also on the island are dingo's....wild dogs which roam about and try eatin your food etc.....the first nite a was awoken by the 3 girls a shared the tent with because there was a dingo outside at our rubbish bin....a would have quite happily went back to sleep and let the dingo eat the crap,,,,,but the girls were like....'no we have to get the bag back'.........so an unhappy
Fraser Island
Nick, me and Al at lake McKenzie crabbit me had to get up and scare the dingo off and retrieve the bag and put it back in the jeep!!!!
the second day we headed to the maheno shipwreck, a ship which was built in Glasgow and ended up washed on shore durin a storm or somethin......also the reason it is called 'Fraser Island' is because an explorer......lord fraser and his wife Irene Fraser were the fisrt to land there a think while they were on the ship 'Stirling Castle'......a think thats the right story anyway!!!!
then we headed to indian head to get some arial views of the ocean.....on a calm day you can spot, sharks and dolphins.....we only managed to see the late which was pretty cool cause they were playin in the surf and jumpin high out the water!!
also headed to the champagne pools and eli creek was really nice.
the last day we headed to lake wabby where a body boarded the steep sand hill and chilled out at the lakes edge!!
the trip was amazin and everyone enjoyed it.......sleep was non-existint.....plenty beer flowin and the drivin was somethin a will never forget!!!!
a wish the group a was with
Fraser Island
me standin at the maheno shipwreck!! was a bit more the same age so it probably would have been more lively at nite.....however it was a great weekend which al never forget and a have made some good friends....definatly a highlight of Australia so far!!
Gavin McGuire from falkirk was doin the trip the same time so a caught up with him a few times and then when we got back to the mainland we all had a few beers and played some poker!!!
got on great with an Irish guy.....and it works out we're travel right up the coast together, happy days!!

I like the way you casually mention "the THREE GIRLS I shared a tent with" haha
