1: Rotorua 183 secs

With the stench of rotten eggs assaulting our nostrils, we head into Roturua.
There is no way of escaping the smell of sulphur, due to the thermal activity in this area.

Our first stop "Kuirau Park" where you can see hot pools, boiling mud and are able to take a paddle in the thermal pools for free.

Next we checked into "Malone Motel" for a few days and bought a bit of internet time to catch up with some of our blogs and family.

We heard about "Kerosene Creek" a thermal creek and decided to head along the Thermal Highway to try it out.

Found the unsealed "Old Waiotapu Road".

2 km later we arrived......

Wow! What an experience!

Bathing in a creek, with water hotter than our normal bathwater.
And it was free!!!

Having bid farewell to Roturua we headed for "Huka Falls" passing "Ohaaki" Geothermal power Station along the way.
The Huka Falls were well worth seeing.

Just a short distant away we spotted "Craters of the Moon".

Decided to see what that was all about.....

A geothermal walk!

"What's that all about?"

As it only cost about £2 each, we thought we'd give that ago....

All I can say is that, it's well worth the money to tip toe through all that thermal activity........

Our next stop "Hot Water Beach" via The Coromandel Peninsula.
What can I say, it's an experience!!!

Well worth a visit, but don't get too carried away.

We had the best laugh ever.....

Watching people with their spades digging for all they were worth and getting annoyed.

Hillarious - It was like spades at 10 paces
