invested power!
We have spent 3 very pleasant days on the Banks Peninsular, near Christchurch, at a lovely hostel beside the sea. Its a short bus trip into town, but yesterday I wandered about on the cliff walk while Alex did the Lord of the Rings tour - a day trip from the city. Today we both went into Christchurch and rode the trams round to various points of interest. I spent a happy hour or 2 looking at the trees in the botanic gardens, lots of English ones, especially limes and elms (big ones). Also, plenty of Ginkgos, one over 100 years old. Tomorrow we are off further south to a place called Geraldine, recommended (cant spell it) by Leigh and Robyn. Meanwhile, I give you Christchurch as seen by the Higsons!

and Alex! The river Avon runs through the city, and you can take a punt - its shallow but fast flowing water.

I like Christchurch
When we went to Christchurch we did the botanic gardens and got one of those all day tickets for the trams - it's great there so much to do within a small distance.

Go Alex!
I love the photo of you with Arragon's sword Alex....you sooo look the part - how did it feel? Was that "the" sword used in the movie? I saw some of the landscape used in the movie up by Ruapehu, central North Island. Sooo impressive, you can just feeeeel the magic of the film. And Carrie, I have to say, I LOVE the timed shots!! I must start practising those for my holiday (smile). I've been practising the "hold the camera at arm's length backwards" shots to get myself and some landmark in the shot without asking others to take the photo! Great fun!! Carry on touring and see you soon ...ish! Tineke
