So i woke up just before 7 am as i was first woken by the aussie and Danish guy in my room going for there 5.30am bus to Puerto Natales and then by a bunch of Isralei girls talking at the top of their voices in the corridor outside the room, i had a quick bite to eat and headed for the bus, while waiting i spoke to a Japanese guy for a while and then the bus turned up and the was a whole bunch of older dutch travelers, i have noticed in Ushuaia a lot of older travelers, eg fortys, fiftys and possibly 60´s.
Anyway the bus turned up and we loaded all up and i sat next to a french guy and we chatted and slept through most of the journey, at the Argentine border we had to wait for the busés before us and it took forever and i met the Danish guy from the dorm his name is soren and aussie guy from my dorm and then the guys from budget expeditions at the border before finally getting through and then a long wait at the Chile border.
We were served some crosisants
and coffee on the bus and that was all we got, so im glad i packed a lunch to take with me and a bottle of water. We took a ferry over the straight and i saw some dolphins got a naff picture of one fin and then we got the other side and 11 hours later i ended up in Punta Arenas and i needed to get Chilean pesos out etc and my camera ended up being stolen in Punta Arenas and i ended up having to get a bus to Purteo natales and no camera.
I got to Puerto Natales and the police station was closed and so no way of reporting the theft to get a report for my insurance company. I then followed some other backpackers to find a hostel as it was late and i was tired and i then triped over uneven pavement and cut my knee open and made a big whole in my arteryx waterproof trousers, i then got to the hostel and no offence to Israleis but it was full of them, i was too tired to go elsewhere and the hostel owener said he would help with the ploice next day.
I went to sleep and then was kept up by two israleis snoring loudly and then by some other noisy Israleis, the general opinion for most travelers i have met is that most israleis are great maybe in twos or threes but together in a big group they are really noisey and can be incosiderate.
Anyway i bumped into the aussie guy from Ushuaia his name is james and he suggested the erratic hostel and i went and they have rooms and so i went back to check out and shift my gear and cause i was leaving the hostel owner wouldnt help with the police, i shifted stuff to erratic hostel got directions for the police office and went and with my spanglish manged to get a police report sorted out and at this hostel they have a speech on Torres Del Paine and imet the Danish guy soren again at the hostel and im hopefully going with him and a belgin guy hikking the park, the belgian guy is called Akil. So i think i have sorted out my camping, hikking and company needs out for the trek/hike around torres.
I was so low last night that i emailed my girlfriend and family and thanks to my girlfriend and sister for emailing me back as it has brought my spirits up and i have decided to cut some of my trip back as its unrealistic with my budget, plus traveling helps you discover yourself and i think in the future i will be a better traveler in a group as appose to going solo, i was going to get a camera in Puerto Natales but the choice is not so great and i do not want to make a quick choice i will regret and therefore i will take copies of my trekking partners photos and look to get a new camera in El Calafate or vist the duty free mall in Punta Arenas and get a camera there, adios for now.
I have been told that Punta Arenas is the place to get a camera cheaper than el calafate and so i will need to go there after the trek and then go to El calafate a day later, also for the trek i think i will need to get more cash out 😞. At this rate ill end up spending my budget for the month in a couple of weeks....dohhh
