Hello everyone

On my last update we were just leaving Wellington by ferry over to the South Island. It was a calm crossing of 3.5 hours & when we got off the ferry the boys had to change a flat tyre. They managed it just in time before it started raining again. We thought that Autumn had come early & we were not going to see the sun again. We stopped for the night in a place called Murchison which is on the west coast.

South Island reminds me of the lake district. Green hills & fields, beautiful blue lakes, snow capped mountains & oh lots & lots of sheep. Apparently there are more sheep in NZ than people. (thanks mum for that fact). You cannot fault the scenery, its breathtaking everywhere you look. The roads are really quiet. You can drive for 10 minutes on some main roads without seeing another vehicle.

We woke up the following morning to blue skies & we have been lucky enough to have sun for the last week.

We had a lovely 12th wedding anniversary on the 17th Feb. We went to the Fox glacier in the morning where we found a walk that takes you practically to the face of the glacier. It was awesome looking up at it & feel the cold coming from it. Then we walked round lake Matheson & then drove to Wanaka, a lovely small town by a lake. We took ourselves off to a motel for the night & bought a bottle of nice wine & had a takeaway pizza in our room. It was very romantic.

The boys are doing us proud with sharing the driving & cooking the evening meals. Tina & I just put our feet up! Not a bad life.

My most memorable trip was to see Mount Cook & the Abel Tasmin glacier. (the highest mountain in NZ & the biggest glacier). Very impressive. The views of Mount Cook over an azure blue lake was incredible. We saw lots of icebergs on an milky cloloured lake & the scenery was amazing.

We have also been to Puzzle World, where there is a giant maze & an illusions room. We went on a jet boat, very exhilerating, seen waterfalls, many many lakes & Milford Sound fjords were beautiful. We have driven about 2500kms so far & having a wonderful time. My faith in NZ has been restored.

We are now in Christchurch & are going to watch the last one day international tomorrow. Should be a good match as England need to win to draw the series. Fingers crossed.

We have also hit our halfway mark. We have been away for over 4.5 months now. Due to return home on the 30th June.

Thats all our news for now.

Lots of love to you all xxx
