The MapThe MapThe Map

Map of our Central American destinations including Yucatan, Guatemala, Belize and Cuba in the top right.
This is our first entry for Roger & Sonia's 6 week adventure to Central America and West Coast USA. I have created this entry so I can work out how to use this web site....

Well we have just over 4 weeks until we leave for our big trip.
We are traveling with GAP Adventures, who's tours aren't of the usual type. No Air conditioned buses or resort accommodation here. Their tours are all about using local transportation and simple accommodations including Home Stays (staying with local families). As well as being more economical and environmentally friendly, you get to experience the culture as if you were one of the locals, awesome!

Our itinerary includes the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. We arrive in Cancun in the middle of the US Spring break, so it looks like we will get to experience the Real Cancun!
From there we head around the Yucatan to such places as Merida and Tabasco.

We then head into Guatemala, which I have been told the highlights include Chichen buses, ancient ruins and climbing an active volcano!.

Next is Belize for the second largest barrier reef in the world. Should be some great diving.

Then its on to Cuba, for tobacco plantations, legends of pirates, some more diving, Rum, Cigars and more.

Our final stop is west coast USA, where we are going to Disneyland for a couple of days, then on to San Francisco for some shopping and sight seeing....gonna need a holiday after all that!

We have had our vaccinations, Soni got more than she expected with her Yellow Fever vaccine. 10 day after we got our shots, she started getting headaches, joint pain and
a bit of a rash. Went to the doctor who asked her if she had Yellow Fever shots a couple of weeks ago, turns out Soni got a mild case of Yellow fever!! She is all better now, and her immune system should
be pretty strong!

So we hope you enjoy our blog, I will try and keep the entries interesting, and include some of my better photos!
Please feel free to add comments down the bottom, be great to get some feedback.
