I've made it to Alice Springs, in the centre of Australia! It's much drier here which is a blessed relief, although it's still good and hot.
Since I last posted I've been to Katherine, where we took a cruise on the gorge system. The rock formations there are amazing, but the highlight was scrambling across rocks to a plunge pool at the base of a waterfall where we washed off all the sweat with a fabulous swim. One of the guys on my tour summed it up best when he said "This is the best water in the history of water"!
Last night we stayed at a cattle station in Banka Banka, for a taste of the experience the early settlers had. We slept in traditional Aussie swags which are canvas beds with a little mattress in the base. They were surprisingly very comfortable but the temperature at night is still 20 degrees here so I was very warm! This morning's shower was fantastic after a rather sweaty night. I appreciate the air con even more now!
Today we stopped at the Devil's Marbles on the way to Alice - they're amazing to see for real. Tonight I'm off to an Aboriginal show and then tomorrow morning should be a real highlight - I'm up at 4.30am for a hot air balloon flight over the desert, with a champagne breakfast when we land. It's fairly expensive but should be completely worth it!
The food has continued to be fantastic. Michelle is a great cook! The other day I tried crocodile which was very meaty and juicy, and we've had a gorgeous chicken risotto and a beef stew with creamy mash. Last night while we were eating at the cattle station, the resident goat appeared and crawled under the table to try to grab our dinner! Luke had to grab it by the horns, sit on it and send it out of the door. It was back this morning for breakfast though - clearly it didn't learn its lesson.
I've had my first 70 photos put onto CD and tomorrow afternoon we have free time in Alice, so hopefully I should be able to get to an internet cafe and finally post them here! I'm on a kiosk at the motel we're staying at at the moment and it doesn't have a CD drive. I'll get there one day I promise!
I hope everyone's well in England and that the weather isn't too cold and drizzly :o)

The Weather...
It's actually an unseasonal 17 degrees here in Reading and forecast to be so for the next 5 days at least.... I'm currently sat in a Beater and a pair of three quarter lengths having spent the afternoon in the garden. Bonus!
